Doug Scott, founder of Scott Home Services, Inc., is credited with having performed the first formal home inspection in Atlanta. Doug and Matt are both ASHI Certified Inspectors, ICC Certified Residential Inspectors, as well as trained stucco/EIFS inspectors. Matt also holds several additional titles/certifications, including InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector and NADRA Master Deck Professional to name a few.
It is the responsibility of the inspector to assess the symptomatic evidence in and around the property and determine what deeper problems are responsible the visible symptoms. Scott Home Services, Inc. was established in 1973, when a local real estate agent contacted Doug, who was working as a remodeling contractor, to assess the condition of a home she was selling to a client. Scott Home Services has, almost entirely by word of mouth, gained a reputation for providing the area's most thorough and informative inspections, which earned Doug the nicknames "The Butcher of Buckhead" and "Inspector General".

Matt Scott inspected our house, and did an amazing job, covering everything to the smallest detail and explaining issues as we walked the house. His documentation went above and beyond my expectations, and was very easy to use. The information he found during his inspection was used to review with the builder who then fixed the issues. Without his quality inspection, I believe things would have been overlooked and not fixed.
He was very responsive both via email and via phone, when I requested more information on an issue he found. He also would update the original report with the extended information

Doug Scott did two inspections for me in the past. Each time he was thorough to a fault; his inspection reports showed his experience and meticulous attention to every detail.
His son, Matt, runs the business now. He has worked for his father since high school and had a structural repair business of his own before closing it to run the family business. I have no doubt that Matt is as careful and meticulous as his father. This is truly a special family and a special home inspection firm.

WOW!! 5 Stars is not even enough! My husband is a realtor and we have personally bought and sold a number of homes, we have never had a better experience with a home inspector as we had with Matt at Scott Home Services. He was the most detail oriented inspector we have ever worked with and the inspection report was immaculately thorough. You can tell he put an incredible amount of time and effort into his work. Most importantly, because of his report, we were able to get necessary repairs done to the home we are moving into and can be confident on our new home purchase!

Scott Home Services was great to work with and I recommend them to anyone buying a house. Matt was easy to schedule / communicate with, extremely thorough, incredibly knowledgable, and the inspection report was very detailed / clear. Matt also saved us from purchasing a home that was littered with problems and issues that would have been a terrible investment. Had a great experience and I wouldn't go with anyone else.
