Specialty Clinic Of Austin
Accessing behavioral health services can be complicated, but our evidence-based wellness approach is designed to be simple and affordable. Our licensed providers have the ability to diagnose and treat entirely from the privacy and convenience of your home or while on the go. Persistent inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and impulsivity can interfere with functioning and development.

Autism is developmentally characterized by problems with socialization, communication, and repetitive behaviors that can range from mild to severe. Episodes of mood swings that range from depressive lows to manic highs can result in shifts in behavior, energy, sleep, and thinking. Steady feelings of sadness or loss of interest in activities can lead to various physical and behavioral symptoms that can affect daily life.
Services
ADHD is a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity that interferes with a person's functioning or development. ADHD can present as either inattentiveness or hyperactivity or a combination of the two. This diagnosis has gone through several name changes over the years, which can sometimes confuse patients.
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression/manic-depressive illness, is a mental disorder that causes a noticeable shift in mood that affects a person's day-to-day activities. The mood can change from feeling extremely energized and restless (known as the manic phase) to feeling exhausted and losing interest in activities (known as the depressive phase).
Everyone feels anxious from time to time, especially when placed in stressful situations. It's normal to experience anxiety, which is your body's natural way of responding to stress. However, if you feel a pervasive, underlying sense of anxiety that affects your ability to life your life to its fullest, you may be displaying signs of generalized anxiety disorder.
Grief is experienced after the loss of someone or something you loved. Although it is a normal part of life, the event can still be a shock and can lead to periods of sadness. Grieving is an important step for overcoming loss and these feelings. Overcoming grief may be complicated, especially if there was a tumultuous relationship with that person.
These symptoms occur 3 times per week, over at least 3 months, despite adequate opportunity for sleep. This results in a compromise to your ability to function during the daytime. Insomnia should be managed through a multi-disciplinary approach. First, we recommend behavioral modifications and maintaining adequate sleep hygiene (reducing screen time, ensuring you are in an environment conducive to sleep).

I’ve now worked with 3 very impressive, empathetic and pragmatic practitioners who are helping me meet my goals of reducing anxiety and better manage stress. They advocate for a "care team" approach that emphasizes working with a counselor or therapist to help create life and coping (vs. reliance on pharma) which has been critical in dealing with all the life-changes brought about by COVID. I would recommend Specialty Clinic of Austin to friends and family with no hesitation.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Specialty Clinic of Austin. I have been working with Dr. Jolly John and she is simply fantastic! She is informative, educational, and listens to me and what's going on. I have had some rather bad experiences in the past, mainly pill pushing doctors, but not here! She has taken an approach to help heal me from the inside out, which has been the best approach ever. We have transitioned into medications, but only after meeting with me several times, discussing what's going on, putting me on vitamins, and reviewing blood work. I really feel like I am not just

I can not say anything but good from my experience with Specialty Clinic. We’ve worked with many of their Doctors over the years and they have always been great. Ashley B was extremely helpful and listened to my needs with compassion, care and was completely judgement free. Highly recommend!

I've been seeing these guys for a while. Provider is fine.

The incident that caused this review: I was scheduled for a medication check, called the front desk and left a message saying I could not afford the medication that had been prescribed to me so there was no point doing a medication check, and could they fill out the patient assistance program form I'd sent them weeks ago? I then contacted the front desk over the portal with identical information to my message, asking once again for help with the patient assistance program in particular. I called again on the morning of my appointment

My therapist & psychiatrist has been amazing. I feel like I am heard during the sessions and given valuable advice & opinions to help me cope with a given situation. Medication is offered and the doctor explains benefits as well as any risk but the best part is that medication is not forced on you, it’s MY decision & that makes me feel better taking it knowing that I have a doctor willing to let me try natural holistic ways if I prefer. I was even able to get on a payment plan to help pay my bill while still receiving services. My experience has been great!

I have been a patient of SC of Austin for a few years now. I was extremely uncomfortable even calling to schedule my first appointment, but when I arrived, the setting was comfortable, everyone was helpful, and when I met Kara, she was kind, patient, and made feel like she truly cared. My life changed for the positive within the first few appointments and has consistently gotten better with every visit. When Covid hit, they immediately moved to virtual appointments without missing a beat and Kara created an atmosphere that made me feel like we were in the same room. What more can you ask when you

Since Sep 2021, Ive received my mental health services at their South Austin location and my experience has been so/so. If you’re waiting on your initial screening, prepare to wait anywhere from at least a week to 2 weeks for a call back, due to high demand of services. This was my first experience seeking psychological help and I didn’t know what was important to share vs not to share. Although I agree with my diagnosis, I don’t know that I’ll remain a client much longer due to a lacking connection w/ staff.

Terrible experience, like others mentioned, front desk staff and providers are unprofessional and rude, do not seem to know what they are doing and only interested in taking your money.

I feel heard and acknowledge when speaking with my provider. I have not had any issues in regards to medication refills or in being able to get appointments. I appreciate all my provider does to provide information and resources for me, helping me understand my diagnosis and feel they have done well to help me find medications that work best for me.

I've had nothing but a wonderful experience with the specialty clinic of Austin. The front desk staff has been kind and helpful and incredibly friendly. Dr Greer is knowledgeable compassionate and generally just great. She does a wonderful job at making you feel comfortable and safe and explaining any treatment to you and making sure you understand and are comfortable before implementing any thing new.

I’ve had a lot of doctors over the years and I have to say that Dr. Cantu is phenomenal. There are many reasons I suggest anyone who is looking for quality care should seek her out, but most of all it’s because she listens. I don’t have to deal with repeating myself or feeling unheard, and most thankfully none of that medical professional disregarding patient feelings/feedback all together. I highly recommend Dr.Cantu personally, but honestly would trust any of the Specialty Clinic physicians.

P.A. Bria is knowledgeable, personable and a pleasure to work with. It didn’t take much time for me to feel comfortable with her. She’s helped me improve a great deal since my first appointment and for this I’m really grateful. I highly recommend her and Specialty Clinic of Austin.

The front office staff is comically unprofessional. The do not want to assist patients in any way, whatsoever. I've had multiple encounters with different front office staff members and each experience is relatively the same. I have had decent experiences with the therapists, but the people working in the front office are so terribly bad, I'd recommend avoiding the place altogether.

The only reason I feel I can't give a full 5 star review is due to the office staff and billing practices. They are not very transparent about billing. My advice to get around this....don't fork over any $ until you have been given a full explanation for the charges. And keep your payment records and receipts!
The care from the practitioners here is absolutely excellent. The medical assistants are pretty excellent also. I came here when I had come to the end of the road with all other treatment options. It's likely I'll need ketamine/Spravado for the rest of my life. They&apos

They expect me to sign paperwork giving up rights that are clearly stated to be nice in my custody decree (which I shared with them). Wouldn't see my child without this nonsense.

Avoid them. They don't know how to handle complex situations, and I can only assume their lack of care extends to their psychiatric practice.

This place is TERRIBLE when it comes to scheduling and communication. I put my trust in this staff but they don't seem to care about frequently making changes to my appointments, with only hours of short notice!!! This has happened multiple times!! I have decided to look for guidance elsewhere and don't recommend this place to anyone!!!

To be clear, my review is ENTIRELY based on the terrible front office staff.

I have seen my PA. Kara, for several years now, and have always found her helpful and supportive. She is kind and doesn't try to rush through appointments, though I know her schedule is always very tight.

HOWEVER, I am considering trying to transfer care purely due to the insanely terrible front office staff. Getting an appointment changed or prior auth processed through them will test your sanity.

As someone who has worked in healthcare, I am empathetic to the nature of their jobs and I'm okay with the

Great therapists here. The office staff is horrendously unprofessional. Inconsistent info, complete lack of empathy, and it's challenging to get refills because using their automated system I never get a timely response, if I get a response at all. It's quite clear that the office staff doesn't care one bit about the patients the therapists have.

Specialty Clinic Of Austin made me relapse and have the largest psychotic break I've ever had (nine month manic episode). They took several weeks to take me on as a patient and would make me re-enter all my healthcare insurance information each time I used their website to email them. I was without my medicine and they were aware. When I went, the billing people were extremely rude to me when I couldn't pay immediately. I was humiliated. The doctor didn't change my medicine and instead continued me on what was not working. I can appreciate that this is a clinic that tries to help

Classic case of "I wish I could give less than one star."

Showed up for an 11:20AM appointment at approximately 11:25. Didn't think to call and let them know I would be a few minutes late as it has never been a problem before in the years I've been coming.
The receptionists were rude and condescending. She walked away from the computer and rolled her eyes after repeating to me multiple times I was late.
The funny thing is I was waiting for THEM outside the window for at least 5 minutes before I was helped.
This isn't the first time I've dealt with terrible and

BUT I was lucky enough to be given the contact info for Specialty Clinic of Austin by my insurance & I was wanting a female psychiatrist & not only was I able to get an appointment scheduled right away @ the Quarry Lake location, which is in north Austin, I was able to get an appointment w/ a female PA....Awesome, I know!
