Fratelli Cafe

Not bad, but not nothing great. Not sure if I had high expectations after seeing the reviews, but it definitely did not live up to the hype. You can expect to wait around 30 mins during peak brunch time, but it's not worth the wait and the hassle of trying to find street parking. We got an order of the Norwegian eggs benny, brioche French toast with fruit, and a side of sweet potato fries. Cute little cafe on the corner of Melrose and Formosa ave. First time eating this food, we did a take out and my food was a little cold by the time I got to eat it.
This time around we actually had the time to sit and eat there.
Let me tell you, their service was AMAZING! This is a cafe where you get seated, order inside and pay right after you order. Perfect for those who are looking for a a cute dine in place but don't have time to wait to pay their check.
We sat outside, on the side of melrose Ave, and the only thing I will say is because that street is so busy you do get some whiffs

An interesting brunch experience in a trendy area!

When you arrive, you scan a barcode at the front door and then are seated at a table. Once you look over the menu, you have to order and pay inside at the counter. They bring out your food pretty quickly, but the food was the main reason I gave it 4 stars.

The huevos rancheros were okay, but came out quickly and were very cold. The chicken and waffles were also underwhelming and came out cold as well. However, the fresh juice and coffee was delicious.

Overall, it's a decent place to grab a coffee or a fresh juice, but I wouldn't recommend

Eh my chai iced latte was probably the best thing.
I got biscuits and gravy. Nothing special about the gravy lacked flavor and my biscuits were burned. Eggs were also over cooked I asked for over medium they were over hard. Lacked flavor. I was excited about this place and I was let down

I must have been past Fratelli Cafe a half dozen times now, on my way to spots right next to it but never noticing. On my recent trip up to Hollywood, we decided to stop in for breakfast after being thoroughly disappointed by a cafe a few miles away, and I'm glad we did.

Both the food and the coffee at fratelli exceeded expectations for sure, but they lost a star due to a few issues that arose.

First, we ordered an almond croissant and it was rather tough and chewy, especially as we were unable to have it warmed up, but the flavor was very good with a light hint of sweetness.

I can tell why this place is such a fan favorite.

We were able to be seated right away on a Tuesday morning. Not sure if it's due to COVID or their regular structure but we were seated and told to review the menu and go up to the counter to order once we were ready.

There's a wide variety of breakfast options from sweet to savory (I'll attach a picture of their current menu).

I appreciated a nice full cup of my iced white mocha. It was not watered down and strong and flavorful at the same time.

I got a Croissant Sandwich (The Basic). The sandwich was filling and flavorful

Im someone who always saves restaurants I see online. I had to try this place. I ordered the french toast, turkey bacon and fried chicken. Someone southern is in that kitchen. It was spectacular!!! Also had mimosas. Fresh squeezed OJ. So good! Highly recommended you will not be disappointed!!

I decided to come here because it had outdoor seating. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a bit lack luster.

I came early in the morning so parking was not an issue. There is some street parking by houses and metered parking directly next to the restaurant.

Pros:

Cons:
-the ordering system is very strange. You need to put in your tables order at the same time indoors, but only two members of your party can place your order. This makes it inconvenient if you come with a group

Love this great little corner cafe. Sunday morning at 9am on Jan 2,2022 it's brisk but not crazy. I suspect that by 10am when everyone finally shakes the cobwebs off this place will be humming.

Biscuits were ok, nothing special but I had low expectations. I really wanted to get a great homemade flakey, buttery, baking powder biscuit (for lack of a better reference).

Came in about 10:30 on a Wednesday morning and got sat immediately even though it looked pretty busy. The service was excellent and one of the people I'm assuming is an owner came around to check in on us. Super friendly and we had a quick convo about the food and how great it was.

We tried the bacon hash and the signature croissant French toast and HOLY MOLY. The idea to make French toast out of a croissant is the best idea I've ever heard of (and tasted). Whether it is a big party or just you, Yaron and his wonderful team makes sure that you are taken care of! My family and I come from San Diego for their tasty plates and fabulous service, it's worth the long distance drive and keeps us looking forward to visiting again :)

This place is nice. It has a nice location and a nice interior inside. The host was nice and we were sat quick. You have to order at the kiosk. The food is good but to be honest, I was expected more. In the photos, all food looks so delicious, it was just okay. The other thing that I noticed was dust. Right above the table where my boyfriend and I sat, there were two bikes on the wall. The wheels were covered in dust. I do not think that dust is supposed to be in the restaurant where people eat.

Not sure what the big deal is about this place. I hate to leave a mediocre review after trying just one main dish, but given my first experience, I have no motivation to come back.

This place is freakin' busy so that's already a turnoff. That's why I decided to order ahead and called in my order. Didn't realize there isn't a separate line for order pickup. I had to wait in line with other customers, so I still ended up waiting about 15 minutes just to pick up my order.

The service here is superb, everyone that works here is full of energy and super efficient. They are very busy over the weekend, but I think we only waited 15 min to be seated for a weekend brunch time slot.

I ordered the classic croissant French toast, it was fluffy and perfectly toasted. The berries on there were really fresh, and it only took 10 minutes for the food to come out.

They're really get a 4.5/5 for me since I don't think their food is unique, but it's still a good solid brunch place.

Pro-Tip: KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO ORDER (Drinks first, then food), so the line moves quickly. Inside limited seating, but EVERYONE orders from the cashier before taking their seat.

Came here the day after thanksgiving with my friend. It was decently busy upon arrival, but things escalated to weekend hectic status quo soon after 10:00 am.

I ordered the bacon hash, and my friend ordered the Shakshuka.

Everything was just alright. A little pricey. The bacon hash I ordered with eggs over east.
Recommended to order this way, then you can cut it and mix with the rest.

Good food. Reasonable prices. Fast service. What's not to like?

My sister and I visited without reservations and opted to get counter service instead of waiting for a table. We walked up to the counter, ordered and paid. Received a table number and placed it on our table so the wait staff knew which table to bring the food to. I ordered the chilaquiles, but had significant order envy when I saw how good the french toast croissant looked, so I'll definitely be back for that!

I came here on a workday morning I had off. I was near the location and went because of the Yelp reviews.

I'm more into really good coffee than coffee drinks. They have many of the latter. Their coffee is just ok though.

Everything else was great. The Benedict I had was delicious. The poached eggs were perfect and the hollandaise was excellent: I'm not a huge breakfast potato fan. But their fried potato cubes are well cooked and well seasoned. I also got turkey sausage that was excellent.

I normally ask for salt and pepper because most food is under seasoned. Not so here.

Stopped by around 8:30 am on a Wednesday. We were asked to scan the menu before sitting and got to choose which table we'd prefer because they weren't busy. You'll need to order and pay right away at the counter inside. It was really convenient because we could do so as soon as we were ready and didn't have to wait for a server to come by.
