Remembering our 35th Anniversary Birthday of our Alumni Association & our classes of 1955 & 1960. The PUHSAA Scholarship Endowment Fund is in place to fund scholarships for graduating eighth graders from feeder elementary schools in the Phoenix Union High School District.
Phoenix Union High School Established in 1895. The first student body numbered 90 students. The school was held in the old Central School building on the second floor, which later became approximately the San Carlos Hotel property.

After two years the District was authorized by the voters to purchase the old Churchill residence at 5th Street and Van Buren for PUHS at a cost of $15, 000.
The endowment has one purpose; to continue the Phoenix Union High School Alumni Association (PUHSAA) scholarship program after those who attended PUHS are no longer available to administer the program. In other words. The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) is managing the endowment fund, and when needed, will begin administering the scholarship program.
Below are 3 of the many grade school recipients "Thank You" letters received at the PUHS Alumni district office. Dee Grimm, PUHS Alumni 1st VP, signing the Scholarship Certificates at the PUHS district Alumni office. They were then sent to the various grade school during that month in 2012. Approximately seventy-eight are sent each year of the school year.
The PUHS Alumni Historic Office is staffed by PUHS Alumni volunteers, who are called Docents. Usually a different volunteer one day each month. The Historical Center is open Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 10:00 AM 2:00pm. Contact the PUHS Alumni business office for more information. Following the closure of Phoenix Union High School in 1982, the PUHS Alumni Association was formed in 1985 with 265 Charter members.
