Super convenient place to rent bikes. I found the staff to be super helpful when I had some questions. They're very straight to the point and we weren't very picky about the bikes or anything. By the time we paid at the counter, they already pulled out two bikes for us to use. I think I was given the ladies comfort bikes and my bf got the men version (idk the different of the two bikes other than the looks of it). As the name suggest, they were very comfortable! We got a 2 hour rental and they gave us a bike route suggestion that took us on along the coast and bike down. The staff said

Made the best decision to rent a bike for half day on a one-day trip at P-town. It was our first time visiting this unique and lively town and we were able to cover all the good attractions around and outside of the town. We rented the bikes after lunch so for a half day rental (5 hours) the time lasted until after the closing time (6pm). The shop owner was really cool. He provided each of us a bike chain with lock and told us if we came back after hour, we can just lock the bikes in front of the shop and drop the keys in the mailbox. With the half day rental, we had ample time and didn't

Rolled in on a busy Saturday afternoon needing my gears tuned. Couldn't shift in the front. About as boring a job as can be especially on a sunny weekend day with queues of people wanting to rent bikes. Shop manager and mechanic couldn't have been friendlier, had me on my way in no time, gears all fixed which made for a much nicer ride. Brought a lock while I was there too. Bottom line is, these are bike people.

Terrible service! I called at 5:52pm (they close at 6pm), told them I was walking/running to them to rent a Bike. They said "we're closing in 5 minutes, you'd better hurry." I said I was, but it would be down to the wire. Called back at 5:58 and they wouldn't answer the phone. Raced up at 6:01, everything was locked up and there was not an employee in sight. Thanks for being 2 minutes flexible for a mom with a kid in tow and now she doesn't want to ride her bike because mom can't keep up on foot.

This is a beautiful, wonderful bike shop: "the place you get the bikes" in Provincetown. In operation since 1937 and deservedly so. The guys who work here are so sweet and so nice and so helpful and so wonderful. They have a huge selection of bikes and they rent by the day or by the week. I rented a great 7 speed hybrid bike for hill riding. It was brand new, included a lock with an elastic band for easy keeping, and a helmet. The bike was in fantastic (new!) condition and they were incredibly friendly, kind, helpful and calm too when I lost the bike! I love this place to my bones. They

Best damn old school bike shop on Provincetown! This is the place to go if you need a bicycle in Ptown. They will even come out to give you a replacement if your bike breaks down. Family owned and operated probably since the pilgrims landed. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Ask for Alex or Rob. They are the best!

Terrible service and terrible bikes. Tried to blame the customer for clear mechanical errors in their old and somewhat rusty bikes. Wheel and brake mechanisms locked and this caused me to fall, scraping my legs up and injuring me. I only got a partial refund and the whole time the staff was inconsiderate and rude, suggesting that I had purposely twisted the bike myself and broke it in order to get a refund. Avoid this place!

I've been visiting Provincetown for about thirty years now. Mostly my experience with Arnold's is from buying their used bikes and getting them fixed (off-season). My experience has been very good.
As for renting a bike in the middle of the summer, I'm not too sure. They're in the middle of town and are a quick walk from the fast ferry. For that reason, they're swamped.
If you are in a rush, especially if you just got off the bus or the ferry, Arnold's is probably good. If you can get to one of the other shops, they've probably got more time to attend to you

Extremely nice people! The guy that assisted my sisters and I was really patient in helping us find bikes that accommodating our heights. He made sure we were comfortable. We rented 3 bikes for half day for a total of $60, or $20/bike. The rental included locks. $2 extra for baskets.
The bike shop is located right by Johnson Street which leads to the bike trail. We rode our bikes all the way to Race Point Beach which was about 2.5 miles away. Once on the bike trail, it was a evenly paved road with shade. Once you reach the end of the bike trail, you start to see the Atlantic Ocean, sand, and beautiful

Terrible experience. The owner was extremely impatient and rude when we asked him about the possibility of putting our dog in the tag-along. He did not even look at us and walked away from us without any notice when we were talking to him. We had to follow him around in order to keep the conversation. It's one thing to be busy but it's another thing to be rude to your customers.
Go to The Bike Shack instead. We ended up renting there and the service was fantastic.

The owner was very helpful and friendly!! We wanted to get a tandem, he advised to not take it for the good of our marriage lol!! He was so right, and we thanked him so much!!
Bikes was well equipped with locker, bottle handler, bag carrier at the back, we could easily set up the seat height. They were very accommodating for the return time! We'll come again.

I went to Arnold's last July. I did get a bike, and they are convenient, if you are in the middle of town.
Other than that, I would recommend any of the other bike rental establishments. I had to ask for my bike lock. They didn't offer me a helmut, nor did they ask if I needed a map. Plus, I was given attitude both when I went to pick up my bike, and when I returned it. I understand that July is high season, but that is no reason for rude service. I've used both Gale Force and Ptown Bikes in the past, and would recommend either! Arnold's has the lowest rating in town

Lots of bikes available on a busy Saturday in August 2013. Rented two bikes. Chain came off the first bike immediately so we had go back to switch it with another. The chain off again on replacement a bit down the road, so we reseated it, getting greasy in the process. The other bike had soft tires and bad gears. In the end our bike ride to the dunes was seriously challenged by the crappiness of the rental bikes.
They did score points for free helmet use, locks, and bungee for the bike rack. And they did let us use their degreasing soap to clean up later.

This is one of the activities we planned for our visit to Provincetown. But when I got there to rent the bikes for our family, the guy told me that he ran out of bikes. And they would close at 6 pm, unlike other places that close at 8 pm. You don't have bikes and close so early, I was not sure if they were interested in doing business.
Also, there was only one guy in the shop, which is a small room on the commercial street (not on the biking trail like typical bike rental places). He is so busy handling multiple customers that you can barely get his attention to talk to him.

A bike rental place right on Commercial, which is probably good for its business but not necessarily for the bikers. (I find it tough to bike on Commercial, myself. You have to beat out pedestrians and cars!)
We were told that we could pay for 2 hours and could pay for 4 hours if we ended up keeping it later than two. That flexibility was great!
We were basically handed a bike without much choice. I think if we had wanted something specific, we could have gotten it. I was a bit disappointed that my seat was really squeaky and moved up and down a lot; it made biking on the dunes somewhat more
