Food is good, giving it a 4 star review due to reading the reviews and the unprofessional responses from the owner. Instead of shaming the people who write bad reviews from bad experiences, how about responding more professionally and more customer service friendly, instead of defensive and unprofessional responses. The goal is to retain customers not run them off.

I stopped in after finding the Hickory Tavern closed til 11am. It was 9ish...
Not bad for breakfast joint, fast service, prices were reasonable. Had the scramble deluxe with all the meats. Not bad! Grits on the side. Would of liked to seen a larger bowl available but not happening. Stools at the bar are not that comfortable, somewhat wobbly. Think I will go with a table next time.

My fiancé and I love this little place. We prefer it over their Davidson location because it’s a little bit older of patrons vs all the kids screaming in Davidson. Their breakfast is always delicious and the staff is super friendly! Make sure you get there before 9:30-10am or it starts getting a bit busy.

Actually tasty! 😉
The inside was very crowded and I had to sit at bar, but didn't have to wait no longer than 5 minutes.
Pancake was too doughy on the inside.
The junkyard was good, but I got mine w/o all the meats, mine was a veggie.
They allowed me to replace the pancake for rye toast.
I would eat here again.

This place was in a HUGE 4th of July rush and still did amazing! I got the chicken and waffles, the Carolina Burger, and both were awesome! Fries were crispy and delicious! Jamie and Ella had the most amazing team work and despite being understaffed they gave us an incredible dining experience. Would 100% recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Good portion sizes for the price. Good coffee.

Not fancy, but friendly local diner options here. Quick order breakfasts and lunches. Eggs, pancakes, burgers. Nice and easy, nothing outlandish or too fancy. And that's a GOOD thing!
I took a seat at the counter and was greeted almost immediately. The coffee is strong (needed two creamers!) and hot. I ordered off their special "carb counter menu" (what? yes!). Keto friendly!
Despite how busy the restaurant was, my steak and eggs arrived in less than ten minutes. Cooked the medium rare that I requested and the eggs were also over medium. Ribeye with a nice line of fat, it sliced

I REALLY wanted to like this place! From the eclectic coffee mugs to the hometown feel. But how hard honestly can it be to serve a meal hot and not burned??!
My husband and I did come in at a busy time- but no excuses! I hate bc I was starved but the hash browns were burned; beyond crispy, actually black and then chopped up to appear like they weren't. Same with the biscuits- burned and hard not fluffy . I didn't send my plate back only bc my husband sent his! He had two eggs over medium that were hard; no flowing yolk at all, and two pancakes that were hard and cold. So , I hate what

What a treasure Davidson has in The Egg. My daughter kidnapped me for a Sunday brunch and I'm so glad she did.
The service was as friendly and helpful as it gets. They have the typical breakfast menu with generous portions. The corned beef hash was great as was the house potatoes with cheese and onions on top.
I will be back.

Do you remember when you go on vacation and pop into some divey joint that the locals frequent and think to yourself, I wish we had a spot like XYZ back home? Well, we do have one! The Egg is in the same strip shopping center as the Davidson movie theater and the Home Economist (I can never remember what they changed their name to). It's the kind of place you want a breakfast place to be... formica tables, seat yourself, wave to a vaguely familiar face or two as you wind your way over to your seat. I like the consistency of the staff, it's always the same faces when I go in there.
