In 2002 Michael took his hobby to the next level by studying viticulture, enology, winemaking at Michigan State University and growing grapes. Two years later Michael finished classes and planted 5 acres of grape vines. He was the first person to start a commercial vineyard in Lenawee County and as the vineyard grew his grapes were sold to Local winery's and home winemakers.
With detailed planning and designing in 2016, the construction of the tasting room was finished. A year after opening the tasting room doors cider and beer were added to the beverages manufactured. Black Fire Winery has on tap eight beers and eight ciders available with a variety of wines to choose from.

I love this winery. The setting is peaceful and would make for an awesome first date. The owner is very welcoming and kind. I loved the wines I sampled but my favorite was the A-Bell. It's a spiced apple wine and a true delight. I plan on returning with my sisters who I am sure will love it here too. If you're thinking of visiting please do. You will love it too.

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience here! Not only are the wines an absolute delight (both the taste and price are delicious), but the people are friendly like you wouldn't believe. Ten minutes into my first visit, i was chatting away with four new people. The staff is helpful with making wine recommendations (which was good because i had no idea), and the grounds are gorgeous and peaceful. After my first wine flight, we sat on a porch for hours just soaking it all in. This is an absolutely must- visit for both wine enthusiasts and novices!

Mike does a superb job. Black Fire was brought to my attention by a customer a little over two years ago. Now it's a mainstay on our Pioneer Wine Bus day trip. I just can't say enough good things about their great customer service and Mike's on hand approach to the business. When an owner of a business has a passion for what he does you can feel it. In this case you can taste it!

This place is really tucked away in the middle of nowhere, but it was a lovely find! They have an amazing back porch that overlooks fields, and some seating out on the lawn as well. There were heaters on the patio for fall, but I wish they had fire pits as well; that would be perfect!
My boyfriend loved the sangria so much he bought a bottle to go as well! My favorite was a A-Bell; although I didn't really think it tasted like spiced apple, I really liked the taste! Tastings are a good price, and we had a really nice time tasting everything. Love the option for charcuterie boards as

Our first visit was very impressive. Mr. Wells is a great host, as well as his staff. The facilities are extremely clean and very comfortable. The ciders are very flavorful and the wines are excellent. The prices are what you'd expect to pay for a good bottle of wine. The food trays are more than enough for two people. Black Fire is on our weekend trip list.
Motorcycle riders should bring a kickstand pad with them because the lot is a little soft.

I took my wife on a mini wine tour this evening and we stumbled upon this hidden gem. A nice selection of Wines, Ciders, and even Beer! The view out back was very pleasant and can't wait to come back in the spring or summer. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Everything was very tasty! I sipped on a New England IPA and my wife said the Blackberry Cider and Wine were fantastic.

I could now kick myself for the number of times I have passed by without stopping!!! Our first visit was an unusually warm, sunny February Saturday and the experience couldn't have been better. There are so many options to try and there wasn't a wine or cider I didn't greatly enjoy! The service was friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to return and am especially looking forward to evenings on the large deck overlooking the vineyards once the weathers warms for summer!

I was on a bus trip yesterday 6/8/2019, with the Fred Hart Williams genealogical society. We visited a museum in Tecumseh and then we visited the winery. There were about 48 people on the bus, we tasted many of the wines, cider and beer. The owner knew we were coming and welcomed us with open arms. We spent almost three hours tasting, taking pictures of the vineyard and purchasing our wines. I personally bought three bottles. My favorite was the blueberry wine, sweet delight and the sangria. This winery is a jewel. I have told a friend of mine about it. We plan on visited it with other friends

Our last wine stop of the night. This winery has some great wines and ciders that taste amazing. The owner was working the night we stopped and he really puts a lot of pride into his business. There are some decorations for sale. The place had plenty of seating and was exceptionally clean. This is well worth the stop. The prices were average . There were crackers for the samples and 6 generous size samples cost $5.

This was my third visit to the winery as they are beginning to host dinner venues. My first visit was a friend introducing me to the winery. It was nice... small... homey. Wine was palatable... some better than others The second visit was a wildgame dinner which was indeed delicious. This third visit was themed Date Night ($35/plate) which was serving a prime rib dinner. It was a different caterer from the previous meal. They were pre-sliced slabs of over-cooked (grey brown in color, both myself and my friend assumed it was meatloaf when we saw them in the tray ) meat. Not tender or juicy.

Menu does not give good descriptions but typically lists from dry to sweet. Just wanted more description. Bar was full so sat at table and sign clearly states to go to bar for assistance. Ordered a cheese plate for palate cleansing and the smoky cheddar was good but left lingering smokiness even after crackers. Nice experience but not one to repeat unfortunately

This was one of the many stops on our wine tour, and it was also the most hospitable, by far! Upon walking in we were promptly greeted by the owner and he went over the wine and food menus with us. Our group chatted with him, had some good laughs, and genuinely felt relaxed and comfortable. The tasting room was decorated well and added to the coziness. (I kept marveling over the granite top bar with marble tiling as well)
We each sampled several and quickly found favorites, but none that were unpleasant by any stretch. I don't normally like Merlot, but this one was velvety with light fruit
