Services
The Colorado physician community as represented by local and state medical societies believes the medical profession is responsible for assisting colleagues with health problems that could affect safe and effective medical practice. CPHP is governed by the Colorado Peer Assistance Act and is independent of other medical organizations and the state government.
The Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) is a nonprofit organization, independent of other medical organizations and the government. CPHP provides the peer assistance services for licensed physicians and physician assistants of Colorado. CPHP also has Training Program contracts to serve Resident, Medical Students and Physician Assistant Students.
Maintaining participant confidentiality is an integral element of the Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP). CPHP operates under very strict guidelines pertaining to confidentiality. CPHP has structured our confidentiality policies after 42 CFR, Part 2 guidelines. These guidelines, which pertain to cases involving drug or alcohol use, are the strictest confidentiality guidelines that can legally be followed.
CPHP provides exceptional presentations to the medical community throughout Colorado regarding the services offered at CPHP and physician health related issues. Physicians and CPHP personnel who are experts in the field of physician health conduct these presentations. Below is a listing of presentation topics that CPHP provides.
CPHP enters into contracts with post-graduate training programs and schools to provide services to Colorado residents and students. Training Programs statewide receive CPHP services for those in training that do not have full Medical/Physician Assistant Colorado licenses (therefore do not pay into the Peer Assistance Service Fund).

Zero stars. Do everything to avoid this facility. I have been evaluated once by them and once by Acumens (at a cost of $5,000) at CPHP's request. Both reports stated there was no psychological reason for me not to practice medicine and the physicians at Acumen's said I was the kind of doctor they would want taking care of them. CPHP recommended to the state Medical Board that I would only be safe practicing medicine if I was in counseling. When I asked them to change their recommendation to the Colorado Medical Board, they said they would sue me in court. I reminded them of what

DO NOT TRUST THEM! My husband went to them for help. The evaluation group would not let him be part of the meeting that decided his fate. He had his psychiatrist AND his supervisor talk to them and tell them the recommendations they were making were absolutely not in his best interest. They did not care. He was put on drug and alcohol monitoring which is costing us hundreds of dollars each month and he didn’t even have a drug/alcohol related problem. They also refuse to give any sort of timeline for how long they are going to own him. Their response to all questions about their plan has been

Not sure where these other reviewers are coming from but my experience was totally positive with Dr Gunderson--and they finished with me in a timely manner

My experience was identical to the above user. Terrible. Do not believe that they care about you or your health or well being. Avoid them like the plague . Ask for a different service from the outset if you can. Their funders: COPIC and the Colorado Medical Board need to wise up.

You must consult an attorney before going to CPHP for help. Once you call them, they will own you and dictate your life for at least the next five years. Do not ever think they are your ally or have a fiduciary relationship with you. Their business exists by making providers look bad. If your attorney or the Board says you need to talk to them; prepare for the worst. They will make your life a living hell.

Avoid at all cost. Went into their office for job advice and became stuck in the program for years. Please note: I have a physical disability and NOT a drug or alcohol problem and have NEVER had trouble with the medical board. Instead of help, they have been a huge hindrance and source of stress. They have never helped me in any way. They are the "tar baby" from Brer Rabbit -once touched you can't get away.
