Since 1997, Icaria Winery has produced award winning wines. We are located approximately 1.5 hours north of San Francisco, in Sonoma County. The fifty acre ranch has 26 acres nestled into the Asti Foothills at the northern tip of Alexander Valley. The Vineyard was one of the first in Sonoma County to plant hillside Cabernet Sauvignon.
Most of the hillside vineyard sits about 400 feet above sea level where we have planted Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 7, 337), Merlot (Clone 3), Malbec, and Petite Verdot. We also have ten acres of Chardonnay within the deep alluvial floor of Alexander Valley. With warm days for intensity, and cool nights for acidity, our hillside fruit produces layers of complexity that are tailor-made for constructing a "food wine".

This 2016 Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley is like a bowl of fresh strawberries and raspberries with subtle aromas of vanilla and exotic spices The mouthfeel is silky in texture and the tannins are soft yet complex. For this 2016 Pinot Noir, five bins were harvested. One bin was left as whole cluster, which was layered in the bottom of the tank with the other four bins de-stemmed as whole berry on top.
Our 2016 has beautiful black color turning to ruby red towards the rim. It has tantalizing aromas of chocolate covered boysenberries and blackberries, vanilla, sage and pine. On the palate, the broad and rich entry of black fruit, exotic spices on the mid palate. The finish is silky with earth, cedar box and fine tannins that round out the wine to it's completion.
Icaria Creek Vineyard is located at the Northern tip of Sonoma County. Wayne and Barbara Smith purchased the Cloverdale property in 1989 and developed the vineyard with the help of their son, Rick Smith, Vineyard Manager. Icaria Vineyards is within the Alexander Valley appellation, which lies one and a half hours north of San Francisco.
