Jeff with his wife Sarah and his two boys, Jacob (left) and Ty (right), at Jeff's Sports Hall of Fame Induction for Woodstock High School. Jeff Curran is a retired professional MMA fighter and 4th Degree Black Belt under the legendary, Master Pedro Sauer. Mr. Curran is married to his wife Sarah and together they have two boys, Ty and Jacob.
Chuck has been a student of Mr. Curran's since 1997 when his very first gym opened up. He has been not only a devoted student since then, but has become a staple in the day-to-day operations at Team Curran for almost 2 decades. Chuck took a big leap of faith back in the early days by quitting his job to help handle some of the workload as Jeff's fight career took off.
I have never opened up my affiliation to the public before because I am not interested in a large association. Instead, I am looking to slowly grow my affiliation of schools that are operated by motivated and like-minded Jiu-Jitsu practitioners that are either looking to be part of a time-tested lineage, need some direction in their program or simply just want to be a part of a good Jiu-Jitsu family.
In the tradition of Helio Gracie and the Gracie Family, Curran Jiu-Jitsu Academy provides the highest quality Jiu-Jitsu instruction available. Jeff Curran could not have been more gracious and humble. I took BJJ at an Evanston location for a short time. Jeff and his students taught and assisted classes near Northwestern University 2 days per week. This was several years ago just after he fought for the WEC championship. I learned a ton and wish I could have continued but family obligations (dying relative) were the #1 priority.

Jeff Curan and his team are the best at what they do. This is a place where you can go at any level or experience, from trained fighters to kids to first time experience at any age. You will ge no better training, instruction, and care at any other location. His kids programs are incredible! Chuck and his team dont just teach the movements to the kids, but teach them respect, discipline, and real world tactics for kids to avoid physical conflict, but they learn the tools to defend themselves if they need to and how to only use enough force to escape and tell a responsible adult or authority. Ive been training with Jeff Curran/Team Curran for over 14 years! I travel and train all over nation, the coaching staff led by Professor Curran is one of the best. Jeff is one of the most TECHNICAL instructors Ive come a crossed in my time in Martial Arts and thats huge when learning how to DEFEAT an attacker weather on the mats,cage or street who is bigger, stronger and faster.Jeff has FOUGHT,TRAINED,TOUGHT all over the WORLD with all that knowledge the students get is HUGE! The student body is diverse from ages 5-70! Everyone is made to feel welcomed and thats important when deciding on a place

As a single father raising 3 boys I have had many struggles, my youngest asked to join martial arts and we found Curran. My youngest child was insecure, frightened, and shy. He has learned confidence, as well as the fortitude to stand up and respectfully attain what he desires. He has grown in his 2 years at Curran through the quality examples set by the staff and Jeff Curran. He shows integrity and compassion in every aspect of his life. It probably comes as no surprise that entering the world of MMA training can seem a bit intimidating for those who are brand new to the martial arts, as I was when I first decided to give it a go. However, from the moment I walked through the doors of Team Curran MMA, I knew I was in the right place.
