Since 2005, we have been marveling at trees and wood, seeing it for more than the bark it is encased by. The stories trees tell, the shapes and history they carry galvanizes us to pull out the unique beauty of every piece and then share it with others. Tim Layzell started the company with a mission to save and bring out the beauty in trees that were destined for a stove, firepit or wood chipper.
Now he works beside others who share his passion. At Jewell Hardwoods, we hire team members that are enthusiastic about their craft and good stewards of their talent. The magnificent natural beauty we have the privilege of bringing back to life inspires each of us. Watching logs that may have been cut into firewood turned into amazing works of art continually inspires our creativity.

At Jewell Hardwoods we passionately handcraft one-of-a-kind Fine Furniture. Your experience begins by personally working with one of our designers. We are able to offer our clients an exclusive selection of slabs to bring your inspirations to life. We are located just outside Portland Oregon and can serve you at our showroom, over the phone, or via email.
Slab makers are FLOODING the market, unfortunately, 80% have not perfected the art of drying the wood properly. This can result in YOUR MONEY WASTED as the slab Twists and Cracks over time. When you buy from us, you receive our guarantee of purchasing a dry slab. We take great care to thoroughly dry our material; up to two years air drying and 3-4 months in our kiln.
In the Pacific Northwest, we have learned to value our natural resources - the hard way. Because early Oregonians did not have a concept of sustainable forestry, we now strive to protect our forests. Traditionally when it comes to our urban forest, firewood is the only thing made from trees that have to be removed.
We never want a lost email in the server to prevent us from connecting with you. Thanks so much! Our 5 acre Jewell Hardwoods property is approximately 20 minutes off of I-205 Exit 12 (Clackamas/Estacada/Hwy 212). Depending on which area you are coming from, follow your directions to Springwater or Bakers Ferry.

Six out of 5 starts for the Layzells and Jewell Hardwoods! From the first contact (studying their website) to the delivered product, everything was professional and first-rate. Tim and Rachelle helped us develop our ideas of what we wanted and delivered a gorgeous table that's a focal point in our home. Tim even made beautiful floating shelves from the excess wood. From start to finish, a terrific experience.

The picture shows the black walnut slab table that Jewell Hardwoods made for us. The wood grain is mesmerizing, the craftsmanship is all you could ask for and the artistry is beyond words. The table is an amazing, unique creation but still fits right in with the rest of our kitchen. Five stars isn't enough.

I have had the privilege of being an employee at Jewel Hardwoods. Tim is a down to earth boss/owner and he focuses on putting out the highest quality pieces for his customers. He has a knack for attention to detail and is a man of deep moral character both in his business and his personal life. Love this business and am excited to see how far they are going:-)

Crazy selection! I couldn't believe how many slabs they have. I'm happy to promote this dude because he totally saved my bacon by meeting my deadline and shipping requirements. Each time I made appointments they were able to accommodate. Only one time they didn't have what I needed but after explaining the project, Tim found me a beautiful piece of black walnut and cut me exactly what I needed. This is one of those local shops I want to see keep going!
