I have been going to New Orleans Karate Club for almost 3 years now, and it has impacted my life in so many amazing ways! Before I joined, I struggled with poor mental health, and was very insecure about myself, but that changed very quickly. I soon became more confident, my mental health became so, so much better, and I have met some of the most amazing people here. Sensei is such a cool guy, and whenever you talk to him you feel like you're talking to an old friend, and he's pretty funny too. If you are looking for a place where you can feel welcomed, surrounded by fun, have support, and build

New Orleans Karate Institute is an amazing place to take your little ones who need some discipline and to learn a skill. Sensei is absolutely amazing with the kids and he takes time to give them the attention they need. My son loves going to Karate. The schedule is so flexible and accommodating. Wish I would have signed him up sooner.

My three year old had a ton of anxiety when he started here and would never leave my side. With the help from the staff he has broken out of his shell. You will simply not find a better program for young children that can match what New Orleans Karate Institute has.

As one of Master Maben first students, I have seen this dojo grow. Sensei is one of the kindest and most devoted teachers I have known. The experience at New Orleans Karate is always one of learning and improving. Sensei wants everyone to succeed and improve. He and Ms. Nancy are the best of people who treat everyone with dignity and respect. Although there are many dojos, there is none better than New Orleans Karate Institute.

Have been with New Orleans Karate Institute for the last 8 years!! By far the most dedicated and caring staff I have ever seen. Sensei Maben, Sensei Carrie and Sensei Nancy each have such a great way with children. I have a child on the autistic spectrum and approach is everything!! I would never hesitate to come here whether adult or child.

I have known and trained with Sensei Maben for decades longer than his school has existed...he is honorable, honest and loves karate and what it can do for anyone motivated enough to excel. He loves personally training the youngest student groups. The kids love him, as a teacher, role model and friend. I would recommend him and his school to anyone wanting a rewarding challenge in self improvement.

THE INSTRUCTOR SLAPPED A KID IN THE FACE!!!
It happened at least three times between two different class sessions that I attended. The first class he did it once and the second class twice. It wasn't a full slap, but enough that the 16 year old kid was rubbing his face after each. The kid also has braces, so I'm sure it hurt bad. I should note that the kid was doing nothing wrong other than he didn't perform a technique right. It is traditional in martial arts, for example, if someone drops their hands, to very lightly tap them on the face to let them know you could have hit them, but this wasn

My kids and I have been training at New Orleans Karate Institute since 2012. They have a great respectable staff. They build kids self-esteem and teach them the importance of respect and hard-work to achieve their goals. If you are looking for a school, this is the one for you!

New Orleans Karate Institute provides an exceptional balance of martial arts study, practical application and self confidence building.
I'm a 5th degree blackbelt with over 25 years of martial arts training. I have had the pleasure of training with many martial arts experts, Master Maben being one of those experts. I have also had the pleasure of providing seminars at New Orleans Karate Institute. The curriculum offered at this school is comprehensive and attainable. Every student knows what is expected of her/him in order to pass a test. The master instructor is demonstrative when teaching techniques

My husband and I began training at New Orleans Karate Club in 2007. We immediately saw the value of the program. Karate is a wonderful way to exercise. It improves your balance, your strength, your self-confidence, and your self-discipline. Master Maben gives his students a clear understanding of how techniques can be applied in real life scenarios. He does this in a way that is both age appropriate as well as size appropriate. Karate is a fantastic way to spend time as a family so, if you have a child or children don’t just consider karate for them, but consider taking the class with them. New
