I held a holiday party there which I have before. The prices were higher the portions smaller the sliders were burnt to a crisp. Think they must have chg cooks. Even when my wife and I went for dinner the quality of the food was not the same. I liked it there hope they get there act together. On the plus side our two girl servers were great.!!

So one night I stopped in for two drinks. Doubles if jack to be exact. I had to leave due to a family emergency so I left the money under my glass. I got a message on fb that I dropped my card and they ran it for my tab. WHEN I LEFT CASH. I went back to grab my card. Bartender claimed there was no cash on the bar and that no one was there to access security cameras. Hey so today was our 1st time here and the service was amazing what looks like the supervisor even helped my bf get a drink he might like but I must say the food was horrible. The calamari tasted like chicken nuggets and that is because the oils was old I can tell because I had fish and chips and my fish was really brown and when you taste it you can taste the batter on the fish was still doughy and that means the oil was old and the fish could not cook properly with out being burnt and they charged us for that I didn’t mind we paid and left a tip because it was not the waitress fault but it

Great drink selection at the bar. Staff is attentive especially to larger parties. Prices are a little on the pricey side but for a night out it's worth it.

This place is hit or miss. I've had great experiences and not so great. won't keep me from going back though. good alcohol selection and a lot on the menu. some good, some not so much. but I would recommend to anyone looking for Irish fare or burgers. other stuff, ehh.

New place to us and it was great. The Guiness French onion soup was so hot and tasty. I ordered a Sweeney burger, loved the fried cheese. My husband had the stew and it was delicious. We definitely will be going back

We came to this Establishment! Great Environment. Sarah came to us we asked about a beer. He just walked away more like stomped away. Came back 15 minutes later told us the price! He made everyone wait 15 to even get their drink order for a price that he should of known from the beginning! We asked about the 5.95. He said I don’t know menu changes every week! It appears that this is THE Irish pub for/in Ocean County. Friendly and informative wait staff, great selection of beer and spirits and a great menu based around classic Irish cuisine. The pub has a comfortable warm feel to it and it's certainly gets lively during sporting events and most definitely for the Willie Lynch band. Recent decor updates feature flags and scarves involving Liverpool Football Club and Sweeney's hosts matches for fans of the club. Definitely will return.

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food was good but could have been better the cabbage was extremely salty for some reason and sadly no soda bread 😔 the waitress did bring us a single slice of Rye toast as an alternative but only after we said something. The short ribs were delicious but there was not enough sauce in my opinion. Overall I enjoyed myself and would probably go back and give them a second chance.

Came on a Wednesday night, not crazy busy. Very good Irish fare. We started w the bam bam wings (not pictured) which are highly recommended. Sauce is creamy and sweet with a slight bite at the end. Chicken dishes were flavorful and filling. Burgers were delicious but I would have preferred it medium rare! Definitely a good spot for casual dining.

Sweeney's is a great Irish pub! The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is very good, and there are plenty of options. There are tons of drink choices and plenty ofbeers on tap. Definitely would highly recommend. Well be back for sure.

Place is very nice and they have live entertainment. The food was ok but I think I got food poisoning afterwards because I was really sick from it . My first waitress Olivia was the greatest , she was sweet and very attentive. But... they switched shifts and after 10pm I got a guy named Steve who was nowhere to be found and when I finally got to place an order he smelled like a walking cigarette :( . Not to mention he was Actually seated at a booth with some girl ( his family or friend I guess ) while I was trying to catch his attention. Was he there for work or to chat with his friends ??

Terrible, after getting nachos with some cheese melted on top topped with shredded lettuce and a scoop of black olives on top I order Guinness beef stew takes 40 min and I get a bowl of carrots and celery soup the beer was warm too

I went with reservations on Saturday May 22 to see a friends band play and have dinner with some friends. We were escorted to a plastic folding table that had a whole/crack in it. We were told by waiter he has to take all the tables drink orders and will be back. Waited quite some time for this . We ordered the nachos with chicken for appetizer it had like 20 chips on TVs plate. Some people came later and the plate was piled high with chips. Food was good but only warm not hot when it finally arrived. Overall we're not happy with the experience and probably wouldn't go back.

I had dinner last night 6/1 with a group of 12 diners. I ordered the skewered shrimp. And the leek soup. I am totally dissatisfied with my meal. The soup which should have had a sweet creamy taste was acidic with lemon juice. The shrimp were small and completely dried out. The worst was the spinach. It was so salty I finally could even put it in my mouth. I finally sent the dish back and complained to the server. She was apologetic but by that time I was so unhappy I did not ask for a replacement. For the amount of money the meal cost I feel I was taken for a ride. My recommendation

Yum! Great service and delicious food. $16 for Shepherds Pie an $16 for Guinness beef stew and the potato and leek soup was delicious also. We would definitely come back.

Very disappointed, came for "St. Practice Day" where two outdoor heated tents were advertised. We just moved to the area and were excited to find an Irish place. The tent was very cold, did not seem heated at all. Most disappointing was we ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer for $9 and got four small mozzarella sticks

Very Good place. Service was good, Clean. My Gaelic Chicken was tasty.
However, they should should Mash potatoes in the Kitchen instead of this cheap stuff and add butter as an option. Charge extra dollar for it. Hence taking the point off. I can't imagine enjoying Bangers and Mash of this kinda mash potato is served. It's not bad but it's NOT Irish!

Five stars on food and drinks 5 star service 5 star no wait 5 stars! Good server very good prices! Nice restaurant!

Ordered from DoorDash when I got my delivery pj Sweeney's screwed up my whole dinner ... gave me the wrong side I asked for a side cup of sauce for my short ribs did not get that so couldn't even that dried out meat ! Complete waste of money never again !

It was meh...a lot of the food came out gross and cold, waitress was very accommodating and fixed it but at the end of the day wouldn't go back....ordered a burger medium, was dead as a doornail, had to wait for another one....not my favorite

The older I get the more I seem to enjoy potatoes.

Well, the shepherds pie here came highly recommended and indeed it lived up to my expectation.

Giving 5 stars because their service is always top notch. I feel the servers go above and beyond to make sure we are being taken care of. Foodwise, yeah it's really good in this lane. Don't expect fine dining, but what you get here will be much better than other places in the price point. Oh and the service. The people who work here really do care (sorry for repeating myself but I had to get over the "your review is shorter than most" thing)

I have been here a number of times and finally got around to review this restaurant/tavern. A friend of a friend was playing here one night so we decided to go. My intention was to sit at the bar. That being said, Marie, one of the three barkeeps, came over and introduced herself. (That's always nice when you're an unknown.)
Stephanie and Joe also deserve mention for their friendliness throughout the evening.
They have a decent craft beer selection, a B minus IMO.
On the food side of things, the girls ordered Turkey Dip, breast of turkey on a garlic hoagie, melted cheese & au jus

Meh best sums up this Irish joint. We stopped in for lunch despite my Yelp sense telling me there were better choices nearby. Interior is spacious and a fire was going in one room, clean and Irish looking for the most part.

I figured fish n chips were a safe bet and our waitress said they were good. I would say ok at best. The fish( cod like) was fair, but there was too much batter on them. My bigger complaint was with the chips, large fries that barely spent any time in a fryer, they were hardly cooked let alone fried. Was in the mood for some fish and chips. I was searching the area and came up to this place. There were no pics of the fish and chips. So I was skeptical of coming here. But I figured it was an Irish pub they should have some good fish and chips.

I walked in and looked like a typical Irish pub. There's a nice big wooden style bar with lots of TVs as soon as you walk in. The menu had some nice options. But I was there for the fried fish.
