Mohs micrographic surgery is a highly specialized procedure for the removal of skin cancer. It was originally developed in the 1930's by Dr. Frederick Mohs and has been refined since, gaining substantial application only in the past decade. Although this procedure is very precise, its major drawback is that it is very time consuming, and requires specialized training, personnel, and equipment.

Office staff is irritated before you say the first word to them. Very slow getting back to you. Absolutely no interim communication. You could wait a while for lab results. If you call in they send you to an unmanned phone where it promises they call you back before the end of the day. Be sure that no one has listened to your message and you will not be hearing back from anyone. It is a shame to have such mediocrity causing this kind of drain on the practice.
Dr Aponte is actually a very good Dr. unfortunately that’s not the only dynamic at play here. The staff is sarcastic and ill tempered

I went there to have my surgery done by a specific doctor that my dermatologist recommended. On my surgery day they prepped me and numbed me up and some other doctor came in and did the procedure. I am not happy with the outcome and had problems for over 6 weeks. From an ethical standpoint I give them a big zero. I also give myself a big zero for not getting up and leaving when the unidentified doctor came in.

I had three prior Mohs surgeries at this surgery center so had some positive insight into their operation. Then I whacked off the tip of my middle finger with a cleaver. I packed the tip in with some ice, and headed for the emergency room- at the initial peak of early Covid confusion. On the way, my wife suggested we call this office, and ask if they would sew the tip back on. They could have easily said "no way" (since it's a little out of their comfort zone), but being a prior repeat patient was enough for them to say "Come right on over". Ten minutes later, they

I have been a patient here for 20 years.
I battle skin cancer regularly. Therefore, I have scheduled scans done.
Today was the second time I show up for a scheduled biannual skin scan and wait over a half hour past my appointment time only to find out they are running over an hour late. I have to go ask what's going on to find this out.
I have told them before I have places to be and a schedule to keep.
Clearly my time is not important to them.
They should have told me they were running behind when I checked in. Then I could choose to wait or reschedule.
This is unacceptable.

Their insurance administration staff is not very competent. When I called several weeks ago to setup a first time appointment, I gave them details of my BCBS medical insurance. I drove through rush hour traffic for my early Monday morning appointment only to have them tell me that they don't accept my insurance. The front desk personnel said that apparently their insurance admin person never verified coverage. So unless, I wanted to be a "cash patient", I was out of luck. Thanks for wasting my time.

Saw the dermatologist here 2 years ago and it was a good experience. Dermatologist did a thorough screening and the staff was professional and courteous.
However this year, they cancelled on me without even notifying me. I made an appointment 3 months in advance given the difficulty of scheduling an appointment. They texted me 3 days before my appointment to confirm. When I showed up for my appointment, the front desk told me the dermatologist wasn't in, and they cancelled my appointment. They said they left me a voicemail, but I never received one. I even showed them their text confirming my
