The palatal expander "expands" (or widens) your upper jaw by putting gentle pressure on your upper molars each time an adjustment is made. The animation below will instruct you about when and how to adjust your expander. When you achieve the desired expansion, you will wear the appliance for several months to solidify the expansion and to prevent regression.
At our orthodontic practice, we're always looking for ways to give our patients more comfort, more confidence, and more reasons to smile! We're very pleased to offer the Clarity SL Self-Ligating Appliance System to all of our patients needing braces. Clarity SL braces provide an advanced and aesthetic alternative to traditional metal braces, allowing you to smile, even during orthodontic treatment!

Dr. Coakley and his Two River Orthodontics team are terrific people and professionals. We have been so pleased and impressed throughout our daughters care plan. Furthermore, it is not difficult to get appointments and you are in and out quickly each time. The office is convenient, clean, and friendly. I recommend Dr. Coakley completely.

My 9 yo is a patient with Dr. Coakley & his team. What an amazing team it is! From my questions regarding insurance, billing, & appointments to accommodating our pre-school schedule. So happy with Dr. Coakley and his entire staff. They go above and beyond each visit to make sure it’s perfect. My children never hesitate to ask questions and I always feel heard. Dr. Coakley is the perfect blend of caring and competent. He handled three very difficult cases for our family, and consistently achieved the desired results. Aside from being an excellent orthodontist, he is also a genuinely nice person who cares deeply for his patients and staff. Our children felt cared for with personalized attention from both Dr. Coakley and everyone in the office. You will not find a better practice.

Absolutely an amazing experience. This is the best place you can go for orthodontic care. The staff members are outgoing and easy to talk to, and Doctor Coakley is always involved with his patients. They care a lot about their patients' happiness and even have a day dedicated to them called "Patient Appreciation Day". The staff brings in cupcakes for the kids and put up games outside. They decorate the front with balloons and hand out snow cones. Again, it is an amazing experience and I recommend this orthodontist to everyone who needs one.

My experience at Two River Orthodontics was like none other. Dr. Coakley and his staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable the moment I stepped through the doors. Every appointment was clearly explained throughout my treatment and I always left feeling I was in the best of hands. The front desk staff is always very accommodating and pleasant to talk to!

What an amazing experience it was having braces and being taken care of by Dr. Coakley! The staff was super kind and everyone in the office managed to make my day! Everyone there is on top of their game and gets things done super efficiently. I couldn't imagine anywhere else to get my braces! Now my smile looks amazing and I'm so happy and able to smile confidently where ever I go!

Dr. Greg and staff are absolute ROCK STARS! I travel about 30 minutes to go to his office and it's worth the trip. I don't trust my daughter to just any "Doctor", I did my research, asked around and am a total believer!
The worst part about braces is the eventual popping out of the wire, Dr. Greg gave me his cell phone number and said "I'll gladly offer weekend emergency help at my home if your daughter ever needs it."
Who does that? Has my daughter's pediatrician ever offered that? NO! But I still like her and rate her a thumbs up as well..!!
