Eastern traditions to provide the highest quality of care to our clients.
Services
AKUA Mind & Body provides multiple levels of care for adult men and women who are struggling with a mental health disorder, a substance abuse disorder, or co-occurring disorders. The treatment team at AKUA Mind & Body offers a combination of clinical excellence and compassion, integrating evidenced-based Western medicine with Eastern holistic approaches.
Detoxification is the elimination of any drug or alcohol from the body under a controlled setting in order to ease the symptoms of withdrawal. Alcohol and drug detoxification is the first step in treating an individual with a substance abuse disorder. Detoxification is usually part of a residential treatment.
After detox, the residential treatment program is the second phase of mental health and addiction treatment where our clients are under the 24/7 care and supervision of out skilled clinical team. At AKUA Mind & Body, every participant undergoing our residential treatment program receives comprehensive care right from the beginning.
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a type of outpatient treatment program that caters to individuals with a substance use disorder, mental health disorder, or co-occurring disorders who require a higher level of care than the standard outpatient care can provide. Individuals in a PHP receive comprehensive treatment services and medical monitoring during the day, but they do not stay overnight.
Men and women receive group therapy while they attend school, volunteer or return to the workforce to provide them with structure and accountability after receiving a higher level of care. IOP includes UA testing and mindfulness-based relapse prevention. We tailor specific intensive outpatient treatment programs for our clients and provide a strong foundation for a successful recovery.

Just what I needed right when I needed it. I'm still heavily involved with this community. Can't say enough about Kyle and his commitment to alumni. Inpatient for 30 days, alumni for life

I stayed at Akua Mind & Body at their Fair Oaks location for mental health treatment. I stayed there for about five weeks. During my time there, the treatment I received was stellar! The best parts were the groups & the therapist. The staff, the environment & the culture gave me the chance to work through many of my issues & put me on a healthier path in recovery. That place saved my life & I'm so grateful that my path lead me there. I still tell myself, "It is what it is", every day.

A few months ago, I participated in a diaper drive at AKUA Mind & Body's Fair Oaks location. The staff and volunteers were so kind, helpful, and welcoming, and the grounds looked clean and well kept. Recently, I signed up for Sacramento's Run to Feed the Hungry race and noticed that AKUA Mind & Body is one of the race sponsors. It is wonderful to see a company that gives back to our community and helps those in need.

I attended AKUA mind and body at the Fair Oaks location and it was an incredible experience from start to finish.
I was there for 90 days and had an amazing recovery process. I felt all my needs as a person in recovery where met. From the not only calm but a fun, loving atmosphere created by all staff. Special dietary needs where met. Therapy was available whenever I felt needed and if therapist was occupied with other clients all staff where available for counseling and completely stopped whatever they where doing to talk to me. The Staff are amazing! Medical side was great as well. I feel I was

This review is for the Fair Oaks - Primary Mental Health Program facility

The Good: Yoga 3 days/week; ample board games, TV, coloring books; chef Zolo serves two decent-to-very good meals/day; staff are friendly (other than the therapist); 2 walks/day; Case Worker Renee's group therapy sessions and Nurse Ben get five stars from me; cool Kyle leads a wonderful AKUA Alumni Assn. + he visits the facility 1 hour/week

The Bad: During my 26-day stay, 7 of 11 of Clients unsuccessfully discharged; I count myself a "successful" Clients, though I voluntarily discharged 4 days early, due

There are so many things I can say about the program they run at AKUA! The staff cares. The balance of addiction education and spirituality is unlike any other I've experienced. It's great there is a talented chef who actually pay attention to allergies and necessary dietary restrictions, too. Mind, body, and spirit - all get addressed!!!

AKUA Mind and Body (Fair Oaks location) is NOT the place for healthy and productive recovery. The environment is not safe or secure. The facility itself was not well cared for. The food was unhealthy. The kitchen was filthy. The atmosphere was chaotic. Curfew was not enforced. The beds are just a foam cushion in a small frame. Anyone trying to detox/recover deserves so much more than what AKUA is able to offer. There are many better options in the greater Sacramento area.

This is the worst drug alcohol rehab facility ever. I went to the one in Fair Oaks CA. The food was nasty. Canned heated up frozen meals. The rooms were three to a room with no room for your luggage or even room to turn around. DONT go here. They claim to mix eastern and western drug n alcohol philosophy and that is a lie. AKUA sucks big big big time. Don't waste your money or your insurances money. Oh one last thing it's $25k to $30k a month. That's more then $800 a day. Total rip off considering the poor accommodations

This program definitely has its flaws. I spent 30 days at the Fair Oaks location in their mental health program. I've been out for several months now so thought I would leave a review. They were able to get me in within 36 hours of calling them which was very helpful as I was in crisis. The intake process once you arrive takes about 3 hours which is brutal. The program itself is decent. Some of the staff really care while others are lazy and there is a huge lack of communication between providers. There is only one therapist for all the clients which is around 12 at max. The structure of the
