Services
2006 - The first legal advice clinic was held in collaboration with YWCA CLark County's Safechoice Program. 2010 - The first family law clinic was held in collaboration with Dept of children, youth and families. 2010 - Housing Justice Project (courthouse-based eviction defense) began as a pilot program.
We support our low-income community members in their civil (non-criminal) legal problems in Clark County. Read on to learn about how we do this, some of the types of legal problems we help with, and the best way to get help-depending on your need. We provide advice and some full representation to clients in the process of filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
We're on all the major social media platforms. Follow us on these channels, "like" and share our posts and help us build awareness of the good work we do. Look up your local legislators and drop them a line. Remind them that legal aid is a front-line response and in times of crisis, it's more important than ever to ensure people have equitable access to the courts.
As always, if you are concerned about being evicted, or need help talking to your landlord, call us at 360-334-4007. Tenants are encouraged to work with their landlords on repayment plans as soon as possible. Remember: you are still responsible to pay back rent from the moratorium, so if you're having trouble making that work-get help at the resources below.
We get tired of reading things too. Check out our ever-growing collection of videos that serve as quick "how-tos", information on certain laws and policies, and some sweet videos from community partners that do the same. Regardless of the way (Audra) acts, if she does the intake, and she doesn't care for you, she gives an earful to the attorney you are going to speak with for your appointment, which undermines the appointment with the attorney. (I know this for a fact, and that is not an empty accusation.) The attorney I had the misfortune to speak with, was dismissive and rude. Audra was incredibly rude and inappropriate, among other things. This organization is unprofessional. There may be some attorneys there for the right reason, it is hard to know, as I didn't speak with any other attorney affiliated with

I felt like the attorney I spoke with was the DA and I was on trial, definitely did not feel like I was speaking to MY attorney for my children and I. It was discouraging to say the least.
I have called multiple times ccx without a response and recently sent yet another email with my new updated contact info and that is how your going to have to contact me instead I guess? It's been 2 years dealing with this and nothing's changed no papers filed and in the meantime my kids are growing up without me and the courts are not seeing any of the attempts to get them back. I'm unable to afford an attorney

It takes 2 weeks or more to meet with a lawyer. That's me waiting for a phone call to come on no specific day ......for a very important cause. Wondering if the courts and judges are willing to wait and hold the case over until I have council......very worried about that. I will post more when I actually use this service. Ok 4 weeks later....no they cannot hold anything over for lack of council. Everybody has a right to have counsel even if you can't afford it and there's just nothing here to help. I am very unhappy with the lack of help for people who don't have the thousands of dollars for good

The staff are extremely helpful in connecting you with a lawyer to answer your legal questions. They are not lawyers themselves though so don't expect to get your question answered same day as the program is designed to make an appointment with you and a lawyer. They have most of the forms you would pay $20-$55 dollars for at the court house. There open 5 days a week which is fantastic though they do sometimes take a lunch so plan accordingly. Also, if your legal problem is in regard to some paperwork bring a copy with you or email them a copy in advance and it will greatly improve the advice you

They just need more people. You can run inside for parking money - they usually have some. Just make sure you don't get a ticket while you're gone. There is a side entrance (with stairs). Creepy basement level with all sorts of unmarked closets & the ladies' room at the furthest end. No coffee, but a water tank. If they can't serve you, they refer you to CLEAR in Seattle then CCVLP follows up with you. That actually went fine. Please consider volunteering here for office/attorney. They definitely need it. They are spread thin; the attorneys don't prep much or read your emails - it's more like drop
