Services
Portland Mental Health & Wellness is a collaboration among psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, our trainees and administrative support staff. We work with people first, diagnoses second. Though accurate diagnosis is important, people are much more than a diagnosis.
Change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not. Change does not take place through a coercive attempt by the individual or by another person to change him, but it does take place if one takes the time and effort to be what he is - to be fully invested in his current positions.
Children love and want to be loved and they very much prefer the joy of accomplishment to the triumph of hateful failure. Do not mistake a child for his symptom. We offer psychotherapy and psychological assessment for children and adolescents to address various struggles, including anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, trauma histories, grief and loss, problematic behaviors and family conflicts.
Love is a constant process of tuning in, connecting, missing and misreading cues, disconnecting, repairing and finding deeper connection. It is a dance of meeting and parting and finding each other again. There are many reasons to seek relationship therapy. When you are committed to a relationship that is not going well you may feel isolated, scared, and hurt.
The considerable changes that come during this tender time are unique and benefit from specialized care. We offer medication management and individual psychotherapy with providers specifically trained in treating mental health issues related to fertility, pregnancy, the postpartum period, pregnancy loss, recovery from traumatic birthing experiences, and breastfeeding.

This place provides poor services, focusing on how to get the most money rather than focusing on providing quality care. They treat their clients and employees poorly (as seen in other reviews and in the ethical document). The owners have been in ethical trouble (which you can see below). Spare yourself and don’t go here.

This organization is really unreliable. My provider didn’t follow up when they said they would. They also charge a really high cancellation fee, even when I emailed them back immediately saying I would rather take the appointment then pay the fee due to being unemployed and struggling financially. They said they filled the appointment with someone else and still charged me the fee. Now I have to figure out how to come up with money I don’t have and try to find a way to get my prescription renewed- a lot of stress caused by a “mental wellness” provider

This was my first time seeing a psychiatrist in Oregon and my experience truly superseded my expectations. Dr. Katherine Kilkenny is a phenomenal person. Attentive, professional, extremely educated, and refreshingly human. I spent a long time feeling poorly about myself due to mental health issues and the symptoms that come with them. I avoided reaching out for help due to previous experiences with terrible doctors but I’m so glad I pushed past that. Dr. Kilkenny reassured me that she’ll be there every step of the way until we figure out exactly what works for me and will help me manage my

Very bad experience just trying to get info. They are unclear. First there is no waitlist then, oh yes there is one for "just that" (what I was calling about). Then they aren't adding to the waitlist then they won't say when they will be able to help anyone again. I AM SO SICK OF TRYING TO GET HELP IN THIS CITY. Every reference they gave me did not test over 18. Where am I supposed to go???? When I finally get to the end of my rope with all this, you all will be a part of why I will be gone. SCREW THIS PLANET!

Overall I had a very negative experience here. I came to one of these therapists for help managing severe anxiety/panic attacks that are triggered by flare ups of some chronic health issues that I'm struggling to get diagnosed, and I was advised by my therapist to avoid seeking medical care altogether to avoid triggering this anxiety. Over the course of a couple months, I was never given any tools to help manage my anxiety when it arises, despite explicitly asking for them at every session. When I finally expressed my overall dissatisfaction with my sessions to this therapist, he essentially told

Not impressed with the psychiatry at Sandy location. Not once have they sent in the correct prescription. Very frustrating. If I wouldn't have already had medication left as I was getting a new script from this psychiatrist I would have been livid. It's not okay to start a person on a psychoactive medication and have a 4 week gap wait time to get the correct prescription sent in after starting them on a new med. The doctor also sent in a pre-authorization with no information which is pointless. It will never get approved if you don't fill it out. I spoke directly with my insurance and they said

I see Courtney, who is a Doctoral Psychology student and she is truly a gift!!! I feel extremely comfortable talking with her and going over my past which is not always easy. Sometimes there’s tears or anxiety and sometimes there’s laughter...whatever it is, she listens carefully and without judgment. I always leave my sessions (three so far) with things to think about, feeling refreshed and hopeful and looking forward to my next session; which has never been a thing for me!!!
