We are outdoor enthusiasts, community members, cyclists and a family of bike lovers here to help you further your passion for pedaling. Smith's Bike Shop opened in 1895 in La Crosse, WI. In 2002, after just over 100 years in business, Smith's moved to it's current location on 7th St. Erik and his signature sideburns began working at Smith's as a bike mechanic in 1996 and remained an employee of Smith's for 20 years.
When we're not at the store, Erik can usually be found up at the Human Powered Trails (HPT) on one of his mountain bikes (unless he's watching Star Wars). He can also be seen tearing up the pump track, on a long road ride, or on his fat bike in the snow. Randi likes to run errands on her e-bike, go for a road ride, or ride her fat bike through the HPT trails.

Services
We have the best biking around, from scenic road rides, challenging mountain bike trails, to kid friendly pump tracks and trails. You SHOULD NOT leave your bike on your car overnight. Because not all of the hotels in La Crosse will ask if you have a bike with you, we want you to know who the bicycle friendly hotels are.
Stache 7 is a playful 29+ trail hardtail with 3 tires and a fork with 120mm of travel. This mountain bike is easy to balance and a bit more efficient than our fatbike however it isn't ideal for winter riding. Lower your seat when rolling over rocks, roots and logs to keep your balance low and the bike upright.
When you find the right bicycle and it fits you properly it's much less likely to collect dust in your garage. Whether you're looking for your first kids bike, you're a weekend race warrior, or you're looking for something comfortable to cruise on in town, our staff will spend the time to get to know you and your needs so that you end up with a bike you'll truly enjoy.

A few things I know in life: The sun will come up tomorrow, taxes are due on April 15th and Erik runs a fabulous business. I had the pleasure of working with Erik and Randi today and they provided me old-fashioned customer service. They truly have a passion for bikes. I'd assume as much for someone who's been working on bikes since 1997. You can trust you'll be taken care of. Thanks to the whole Smith Bike Shop family for getting me on my bike today.

I absolutely love this place! Great vibe when you come in, helpful and friendly staff, excellent and prompt service. When they accidentally replaced the wrong tire on my bike, they gave me the replacement for free to make up for it and did the correct install on the spot. Count me impressed again. You can tell these guys are into biking and are passionate about passing that on to others. Oh, and we absolutely love the bikes we purchased from Smiths several years ago. It was such a great purchase I use all the time.

Stay away and don’t trust this store!! I called the store and made sure they had the bike I wanted and had the bike on hold for the next day pickup since I had to drive from Madison. I was at the store the next by noon. I meet the sales person who I talked to over the phone. He made me wait for at least 20 minutes and later tells they already sold the bike to somebody and I was out of luck. They didn’t even have the courtesy of calling me to save 2.5 hours drive or letting me know right away when I was in the store.

Poor service.
- We have purchased 2 bikes here in the past with sub-par customer service, while it was sub-par, it was not compelling enough for me to write a review. However, when we went to get a service done in the shop today, we waited for 30 minutes while everyone BEHIND us was serviced. We later called after the visit to get an explanation but they just dismissed it as being "too busy" and never apologized. It is not an excuse to complacently ignore your customer for 30 minutes.
- I do not suspect the disservice stemming from racial biases, but we were the only people of minority in the

My husband gave me a road bike for Christmas (yay)... but after riding it for a few miles my back was killing me so I decided to go in for a fitting. The technician was very thorough measuring everything, watching me ride, etc. He adjusted the seat, changed out the handlebars and the stem so that I wasn't reaching so far. Now I have a bike that fits me perfectly. Very happy!

Jared (sp) is really an asset to this bike shop! He had great customer service and even helped install a trunk rack that was a bit tricky to secure properly. I would recommend this place to anyone of any skill level in the cycling world. I am just entering into this world and was greeted kindly with my questions answered thoroughly.

I have been a customer for about six years. In that time, I have never met a staff member who was anything less than knowledgable and kind. Recently, while having difficulties on the trail, I was able to contact the shop and receive real-time help to get me rolling again. (Thank you, Scott!) From quality equipment to helping me learn how to service my bike on the trail, the staff at Smith’s Bike Shop has played a huge role in helping me to become the confident cyclist I am today.

I needed a tire n tube put on and a derailer adjustment. I'm from out of town and just found them on the internet. Since there is this fake virus thing going around they told me I needed an appointment but that I should just stop by anyway and they would work me in.
I stopped by. They fixed my bike. In 20 minutes I was back on the road.
Nice work boys. I would go back.
Thank you

I was looking for the Great River State Trail and Google maps was leading me (far!) astray. So I decided that I needed a bike shop and randomly chose the nearest one to where I was. Lucky me! They were so
helpful...brought a map up on the big touch screen on the wall (apparently they are not just for classrooms ;-) !! Talked me through the whole trail...walked me outside and got me started in the right direction...Super friendly and kind. Organized and clean shop. A very nice experience. Had a great ride that day as well!
