Best selection of constantly fresh merchandise in the city!
It’s hard to find shops that have unusual merchandise and in quantity.
Hands down the best home furnishings shop in Houston.

Houston doesn't get enough credit as a design shopping destination. Area alone deserves a spot on the national map for independently owned home shops. Daniel is the most naturally personable presence and even though I normally like to shop in silence (Not trying to be rude, shopping is my "me" time) I always enjoy our conversations.

The store has a good mix of reliable staples like frames, candles, and coffee table books and ever changing unique selections of antique treasures, art, and furniture. It is a high end destination, but the quality of the goods and service are well worth

Great merchandise but extremely arrogant man 'helped' me. I saw a pair of fabulous lamps and they had to order them. Martin, Marvin, George, Daniel or whatever his name was (I've repressed the incident) was extremely indifferent/snooty throughout the process. He told me it would be several weeks before they arrived but he never followed up. I would call every couple of months or so for a ridiculous stretch of time-something like six months. I ended up finding the same lamps online without the attitude.
It's too bad when salespeople in high end stores (not that it matters if it's high end or not

Of all the furniture stores we visited over the weekend, Area was one of my favorites. They have a beautiful collection of antique style furniture (mostly smaller pieces) and then some home decor items. I saw a gorgeous blue vase but alas we definitely do not need any more vases.

It's quite pricey but there is also an upstairs area that the guy referred to as leftovers which were more reasonably priced, though somewhat slim pickings.

I'm not sure how frequently inventory changes, but I'll definitely come back if I need a gift and perhaps hunt for bargains.
