The Tasting Room At Gendron Catering
Everything I have tried at the Tasting Room has been fantastic and watching Chef Daniel create your meal is a real treat. One of the most unusual features of the place is their Ramen Night. Chef Daniel grew up in Japan and makes what is easily the best bowl of ramen in the Hudson Valley and it's the best I have had anywhere.

The little buns with pork belly are amazing too. The presentation of every dish is like a perfect still life, a work of art. Don't be too surprised if the person at the next table sneaks a quick photo of their meal.

We ate at the Tasting Room October 12. What a wonderful dinner!
The restaurant itself is funky, in a good way. You are eating in the chef's basement so basically, he is cooking for you in his home. There are only five tables.
The waitress, Roslyn, was so much fun, interacted with you the entire night, without being overbearing. She knew every detail about each course.
After our meal, Daniel came out and spent quite a bit of time talking to us.

We had the beet, arugula and feta salad, the silver dollar crab cakes for our appetizers. For the main dish we had the rack of lamb with an

We ate at the Tasting Room on Friday October 8th. The eating space is in a walkout basement and the access is not cared for or well lit. The space is a cheaply appointed and is an uninspired one, relative to the prices being charged for the meal which are extremely high relative to the experience. It was OK food: The endive salad was nice, bread was "maybe available" when we asked, but then actually "you probably do not need the bread since your entrees are coming soon" Reduction sauce was dull and overly salted, polenta tasted bland, and the risotto was just rice and not a

TERRIBLE SERVICE and system:

I called over 3 months ago to make a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday for Saturday, 9/4. When I called, I was the first one to be added to the reservation list for that night. Just called to confirm the reservation for 2 people on 9/4 and they told me they're all booked up. How does that even make sense?? Apparently they didn't enter my reservation correctly, and now they're all booked up with other people who made the reservation AFTER me. Now I have to scramble and find alternative plans 4 days before his birthday!

This was way more than eating. This was an experience that we won't soon forget! Besides an amazingly talented chef, Chef Daniel is a truly wonderful human being that is passionate about the food he prepares. It was a beautiful experience talking with Chef Daniel in between bites of his delicious food. We were so happy to be there and Daniel was happy to have us there! It felt like we all knew each other for years. We kept it light and ordered appetizers which consisted of crab cakes with an aioli sauce, burrata with baby tomatoes and pesto sauce and a refreshing beet salad with arugula

Tiny restaurant, Tiny dining room, tiny kitchen... And I'm really not sure how the chef cranks out all this delicious food in such small quarters. Nearly everything was exceptional. I would eat the bouillabaisse out of a toilet, it's that good. Only slight And very minor complaint was the fish in the Bouillabaisse very dry and tough/overcooked..

Let us be the most recent to heap on another 5 star review. Chef Dan is doing something special at his cool, funky and relaxed restaurant. Each dish, from the perfectly chilled and dressed beet and goat cheese arugula salad to the finely seasoned and cooked silver dollar crab cakes and my wife's beautiful scallop entree with a light and flavorful risotto. Spring asparagus was perfectly al dente.

The real star of the show was a 30 day dry aged rib eye with the best demi-glace based au poivre sauce that I have eaten. Rich peppercorn flavor, perfect consistency and mouthfeel. No brandy

After reading previous all the rave reviews and living close by, my partner and I were very excited to eat here. Multiple issues came up immediately. Upon arriving, we were approached by an unmasked chef Daniel who assured us that he was vaccinated so we didn't need to worry about him waiting on us / cooking our food without a mask. While it seemed strange, we sat down and had to wait over 15 minutes for him to take our drink order since he was cooking another table's food. While the crab cakes were decent, the meal itself was bland, and when we ordered dessert, Chef Dan opened a beer

What a find. The personal touch makes all the difference. Just a few tables, and the chef is preparing everything for you himself. Fresh ingredients, and delicious food. A fantastic dining experience.

Not sure how to review this place. On the one hand it is one of the finest unique dining experiences I have ever had. On the other hand it is tiny (due to Covid restrictions) and not sure if I want to get the place oversold.
Regardless get to here have sme drinks , laugh with the staff and Chef and enjoy a great meal. I am sure it is awesome in the summer, I would go back there anytime any day.

My husband and I booked this reservation for our anniversary dinner and it was one of the best meals we have eaten in our lives. The restaurant is run by the owner who does everything. He's the chef; he's the waiter, he's the busser and answers the phones too. When eating inside, you can see the kitchen and what he's cooking up. I loved that the menu was interesting, but not too many choices which makes things complicated in my opinion.

We tried almost every appetizer. The crab cakes are outstanding. You actually can enjoy the crab inside and not taste all breading like other

We used to love this restaurant, but the food was bland this time. Had the steak with seared foie gras. The foie gras was cold and the steak was unseasoned and bland - needed to bake in salt a bit more. Each of the crab cakes were unevenly cooked; one was burnt and two were golden while the other two were undercooked. They forgot our dessert, a soufflé which we ordered in the beginning , and while she gave us a glass of wine, it was frustrating we waited for 40 minutes for dessert.

Not coming back.

From the moment we entered until we left, everything was perfect. There were no complaints among my party of five, the hostess Rosalyn was delightful. My favorite part of my experience at the Tasting Room was the FANTASTIC quail I had as an entree. Thank you so much for this experience.

Such a unique, extraordinary culinary experience on our mother-daughter weekend getaway! Chef Daniel's small restaurant is on the first floor of a house in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. Every dish we were served by Roslyn, our most entertaining, knowledgeable waiter, was truly memorable and outstanding. We shared two appetizers: the burrata with heirloom tomatoes, pesto, and hibiscus salt and the silver dollar crab cakes. I ordered the filet with chanterelles and my daughter had the scallops fra diavolo over tagliatelle. We shared the "Baked Nebraska" for dessert, which was

If you love incredibly delicious food & desserts, perfect drinks, a great choice of wines, a laid-back, but classy & perfectly stylish informal setting, a unique and highly-skilled, experienced, warm, personable, and delightful chef and host, Chef Dan Gendron (who cooks before you in a 5 star lovingly appointed kitchen and cooking area, with great standards playing on a perfect sound system)
THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE!
Chef Dan is old school, but a young '60's chef with old school training and decades of cooking with major NYC chefs, with a perfect Rhinebeck, slightly loose, hippy

What an experience! Food, service & hospitality, attention to detail - all amazing. This is the perfect place if you appreciate food made with heart and passion. I need to repeat that the level of hospitality is unmatched. We can't wait to return to try the ramen (Tues, Weds & Thurs nights mostly) and new menu items as the seasons change.

Tasting room. A gourmet meal with a family feeling. Chef and Roslyn offer what I think is the most amazing food in Rhinebeck. A small cozy atmosphere with knock your socks off food and drinks. Super knowledgeable, super talented. Ask Roslyn about her bees and honey. Chef does traditional ramen a few nights a week. Check out the menu for New Years.
Do not miss this private wonderful culinary delight.
Wish I put my utensils down long enough to take a photo.....next time.

Wow wow wow! That was an unbelievable experience! If they had rooms I would've stayed. It was truly an experience. My husband had the best osso bucco he is ever had in his life. I cannot tell you what the best part for me was because it was all excellent. A Hidden gem to say the least. My husband and I cannot wait to go back. This is a rare find! You do not get this type of food or service anywhere today. Chef Daniel puts love into the food. This is truly the creme' of the creme'!!! The zabaione was out of this world. But then, everything tonight was out of this world. Thank you

Chef Daniel Gendron catered our wedding and it was truly an amazing experience. The food was delicious and there was so much of it. As the bride, I was very worried about making sure my guests were well fed and that they loved the food. Daniel assured me there would be plenty of food and that it would taste delicious and he did not disappoint. We had a carving station, salmon, and stuffed chicken breast, all of which were amazing.

Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but Daniel was easy to work with and made the wedding food experience a really great one. I totally trusted him all along

Allow me to add onto the praise for The Tasting Room and Chef Daniel. When I first came across the listing on Yelp, I was skeptical of the 5 stars from literally every single person. But consider me a believer!

The restaurant is the most hidden of all hidden gems. It is in the bottom floor of a house... and when you walk in, it has about 6 tables (mostly for two people, although there is one larger table). As the first patron that Saturday night, we had the perfect view of looking right into the open kitchen where Chef Daniel prepared all our meals. The menu changes fairly regularly to mirror
