There's one dental office in Boone, NC, that handles your advanced and general dentistry needs - Waldrep Dentistry. In addition to meeting your basic dental health needs, such as a dental cleaning or tooth fillings, there are more advanced procedures that benefit a multitude of patients. These can include teeth extractions and teeth sealants, for example.
A dental cleaning is a professional cleaning you receive from a dentist or dental hygienist. Most dental cleanings take approximately 45-60 minutes. Plaque left untreated can lead to unhealthy gums, gingivitis, and tooth decay. During your routine cleaning we will remove excess plaque and polish your teeth.
Without this treatment, the gum disease can break down the bone around the tooth so that eventually the tooth will become loose. Often a person will have no symptoms unless a proper dental exam is performed.
Unfortunately, the damage to the bone around the teeth is irreversible, however if the gum disease is caught in time, its progression can be halted and improved upon which is the key to maintaining your periodontal health (the health of your gums and supporting structures such as bone).

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. If you have a tooth that requires a filling, the dentist will first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material. A filling helps prevent further decay by closing off any cracks or spaces where bacteria can enter.
Crowns and bridges are used to restore and enhance teeth that are damaged or to take the place of missing teeth. A crown (also referred to as a cap) is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but it can dramatically improve a tooth's appearance, shape and alignment.

Dr. Waldrep installed my second gold crown yesterday. He installed my first gold crown four years ago. Both teeth feel completely natural and I am extremely happy with the results! Great staff and great atmosphere! I called and had an appointment scheduled for the next day. Most patients didn’t even sit down in the waiting room. Once I was called back, I was x-rayed immediately and Dr. Julie had looked at it and came to talk to me within 10 minutes. I had to wait a while for Dr. Wes to finish up with another patient, Dr.Julie and her assistant kept me updated and apologized for my wait.
