Enjoyed the comedy show I definitely got a steal pertaining the price. Great comedy low price tickets makes you wanna tip the comedians for a great show. Drinks are ok as well. Shrine is a hidden gem in Harlem. They also have jazz karaoke and singing performances small revenue but good shows. I go for the Brown Sugar Comedy will be there again.

The security & management are rude to their could-have-been patrons.
My cousin, whose husband is Nigerian & they were visiting from Atlanta, wanted to support a Nigerian-owned business, as none was where they're staying. One of the security guards (he wears a The North Face hooded black coat) spoke in a rough tone & that put my cousin off. The manager was asked for & he was not apologetic. My boyfriend & I came to meet my cousin & her husband & we left to go elsewhere where the staff was courteous.

It's a nice laid back vibe with either a live DJ or live musicians playing. People will usually dance so it can get lively. Even though it's primarily a French African spot there's usually a diverse crowd here of white, black and mixed folks here. A good beer tap selection and pretty decent simple cocktail menu if you're not too picky. Overall a nice dive bar.

Stopped in to The Shrine randomly and had an amazing time. I showed up on a Friday night and the live band was amazing. The stage design and lighting is also unique.
It’s a mid size space with not a lot of seating, but the environment calls for standing and dancing. The service at the bar was good.
The aesthetic is very artsy with a lot of personality and homage to afro and Caribbean talents. Great for a solo outing, date night or small group outing.

I love this place. Its a lounge/restaurant. The food is great, but I mainly go for the entertainment part. Live bands almost every night, and on the weekends it gives club vibes. It is a go to place for me in my neighborhood. Almost everyday of the week offers a different vibe. I always meet great people while sitting at the bar drinking their delicious henny coladas. While sitting to drink or eating at one of the tables you might be unknowingly served by the owner. He's great and keeps a low profile. Overall an eclectic crowd with amazing vibes. Check it out.

I recently moved to Harlem and Shrine became one of my favorite go to spots to grab a drink, hang out, and watch live music. I loved the punk indie vibe and appreciated the low to no cover charge for entry.
That all changed. I brought some friends that were visiting from Argentina and thought this would be a great place to get a taste of local Harlem. Upon entering we were told cover was $20 each for the amateur jam session. I thought that was strange as I've never really paid cover or if I did it was never $20. After questioning and explaining that she then tells me ok it's $10. I

Food is always good, last time I went there, which was a while ago, they would have good music before they turned into a nightclub scene. The fries were on point, and the dipping sauce was very good. Also they have authentic African food, I always enjoyed it especially the fish, and they had American food too like chicken wings and French fries. The drinks were kind of expensive though. Expect to spend some money here

I came here with a group of friends one weekend to celebrate with a mutual friend who was leaving for Peace Corps. Parking in the area was fairly easy. Judging from the outside I could see the place was pretty crowded. The place was decent, however, it was pretty hot inside and everyone was literally shoulder to shoulder. I went downstairs where they had another bar and played music. It wasn't as crowded so I stayed there and danced.
Also the drinks were nice and strong

Pretty nice venue. Definitely the best one in Harlem. Come for the live music and stay for the DJ on Saturday's. Kinda upset that it's $10 to enter even before a DJ arrives but it was a nice time.
There's an upstairs where the live performance happens and a smaller downstairs where the dj starts around 11. The upstairs dance floor also has a dj after the live music stops.
What I really liked was that although this place was a dance club, they had signature cocktails, not just well drinks and beer. The cocktails are great, you should try one!

Who knew there was comedy downstairs?! We were on town for the day. Happened to find out about a comedy show here from a performer who just happened to be in town! First off... It was free! There is a bartender in the basement as well. Record sleeves line the walls... Such great stuff to take in! Boomboxes? Hell yeah! These were novice comics bit I can tell you the venue is quaint. We were almost on stage but the audience inclusion in the routines were great! We enjoyed ourselves. As we left... Live music on the main level. Cool spot for a Saturday night in Harlem!

One of my favorite places to go out in Harlem! There's live jazz every night of the week and then on weekends after 12, it gets littttt. None of that manhattan elitist bs with bouncers and not letting people in. There is a cover for $10. People here genuinely love to dance. There are 2 floors. Bottom floor is more mainstream /reggaeton. Top floor is afrobeats with an MC/profesh dancer? MC was slightly racist...kept calling us Japanese when my friend is from Hong Kong and I was born and raised in NJ. But I'll let it go since he was such a good dancer.

3 stars only for the aesthetic of the bar. The vibe was really nice. And downstairs where the bathrooms were was another small comedy club/skit/open mic which was cool. We were there for a friends performance.
The drinks were way too overpriced for a really small amount and the draft was warm. We didn't want to waist our money there on drinks because we knew we could get it elsewhere for way cheaper. The customer service was good for the amount of people that were there. Probably won't be going back.

Amazing establishment, just need to hire a more competent bouncer.
I wasn't allowed entry due to the fact that I have a green card. The guy has the nerve to tell me my ID is fake when I worked 10 years to get proof of my permanent residency.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from going, this place is as unique and awesome as the reviews say it is.

I love this place the whole ceiling and walls are covered with vinyl covers and some area African masks also. This lounge plays caribbean, Afrobeats, rap and r&b. The crowd the ages of late 20s to late 40s. There is no dress code. There are two floors and downstairs is where they play the Caribbean music and it reminded me of the basement vibes and old house parties. There was a cover fee of $10 but not sure when they start charging since I got there around midnight. The DJs were good but they can use some improvement with the bar area. Whenever I'm in Harlem late night I know where to

Went to see my brothers band play. Didn't know what to expect but they had a menu and we were hungry. Very happy we decided to give it a try. Three good was delicious. My kids had macaroni and cheese. It was fresh, not craft, crispy on top and delicious. My mom had a crab cake that she said was very good. My burger was excellent. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, as ordered, and served with crunchy French fries. Prices were good for the quality of food. While a very small menu, definitely a hidden gem!

Walked past this joint as the signage were hard to view. We doubled back and walked into a venue that was special and unique. Our friend recommended this place and boy I'm glad she did. We didn't eat the food but just looking at plates go by I wish we did. We went for drinks and music and I was very impressed at the artist on stage. Many variations of cover songs with there own version played and that brought a awesome feeling the translated over the crowd. There are many other music venues in New York but this one is special as you can feel the soul that comes out of here. Keep up the

I recently move to Harlem, and Shrine immediately became one of my neighborhood favorites. I would go there almost every week for the past 3 months and not once was I ever charged a cover to go insie. It was always free.
I liked the place so much that I decided to bring a group of my coworkers one night. When we got to the door, the bouncer tried to charge us a cover to go in and would not budge. It was an even group of 4 guys and 4 girls .
I tried to explain that I go there all the time and that I am now bringing new customers who will go in and spend money but

During my first month here in NYC, I came here with some classmates for a fun night out. We had gotten done having drinks during happy hour, and we had finished eating at a taco place nearby.
Walking along Adam Clayton Powell Blvd, we came upon this place. It seemed like a cool little bar to round out the night. Upon entering, we saw that there was a live band playing. The music was pretty cool, and the decor of this place definitely fit the vibe.
Downstairs, there was another live band with a smaller but manageable floor space. It was somewhat crowded there, but I only stayed there for a limited

So fitting that we ended up here just a few days before Mardi Gras because the vibe reminded me so much of a fabulous neighborhood club in the Marigny of New Orleans. The decor is really cool and fits the character of the neighborhood. The jam band that was playing when we walked in was pretty loud but we got used to it. Was pleasantly surprised that they had a happy hour until 8 even on Saturday so ordered a couple of glasses of wine and just chilled for a bit.
I like this place a lot of happy hour drinks and free live music, but I don't recommend the food. The Mediterranean plate I got

For the area, what a gem to hear live music with no cover charge! The establishment doesn't cater to a specific genre, they just pick really good bands. I went here during happy hour and I happen to catch a folk band. The singer had an amazing voice, written all her songs and just had good guitar skills too. They covered a song from Adele, and she nailed it, so that is impressive. The drinks are affordable, but I would just stick to wine and beer, it's not a type of place you can get signature cocktails. The ambience is cool, not pretentious, authentic to where they want you to have a
