ClearView Communities, LLC is a long-term residential treatment center which provides intensive clinical, vocational, and community-based treatment for individuals with psychiatric illness. At ClearView Communities, we firmly believe recovery from mental illness IS possible. Services
The mission of ClearView Communities, LLC is to create a superior residential experience for persons with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders. We offer a unique and comprehensive program for adults with mental illness who are seeking recovery and independent living in the community. We are proud to premiere a short documentary featuring Sylvan Herman and a video tour and description of the ClearView Model.
At ClearView Communities, we firmly believe recovery from mental illness IS possible. That means developing an understanding of one's own illness and developing self-awareness of behaviors, which are both essential to making changes. There is a process by which people with psychiatric disabilities rebuild and further develop their important personal, social, environmental and spiritual connections, and learn to confront the effects of stigma.
Each residence at ClearView Communities is co-ed and has private bedrooms. Two of our five houses offer private bathrooms as well, while three houses have bathrooms shared between two residents. In each house, food is provided, and meals are prepared in rotation by the residents with assistance from the staff.
Our warm and welcoming residences are each unique, offering a comfortable home environment designed to promote healing and help residents adapt to independent living in a non-institutional setting. This is residential living in modern, furnished quarters complete with fully equipped kitchens and linens.
A Baltimore native, Sylvan Chic Herman was a sailor in the U.S. Navy who went through college on the G.I. bill and sold pots and pans for $50 a week to get by. By saving his dollars and buying downtown land one small piece at a time, he was able to build his first office building in 1960.
Since then, he has developed more than two million square feet of commercial space that have helped to modernize the face of Washington, D.C. Faced with his own son's mental illness and slowly educated through the experiences of dealing with the challenges, Chic decided to generously share his financial success to build better mental health opportunities for other families who need help.
