For the short period of time that I have been exposed to this organization, I can say that I am impressed with the community and the team at On Our Own. From the sense of ownership that each of the staff and team members hold on the success of the events and projects, the pride that comes along with championing responsibilities all is being done in a small, yet big way in each of the lives of it’s members is huge and life changing! It’s empowering and hopeful! These are all great things when it comes to recovery and sustainability and having organizations like On Our Own around make it possible

The mission statement is false, “ the goal should be to provide a safe place for people who need it, & help with employment searching”. Unfortunately the reality is of staff, who abuse what little power they possess.. to manipulate and disadvantage the poor. The idea is a good one and this place at times can be a relaxing space, well needed for those on the streets, but the hypocrisy begins where the staff rebukes those who come in on substances, that the volunteers and staff themselves consume throughout the business day... how can an alcoholic rebuke someone who smokes Cannabis; how silly

Great place. Eric Wakefield has a forgiving heart. He does his best to help those in need. He is not about the money I can say. He is about helping period. Need more people like him.
