Services
You will meet a really great group of people at Florian Martial Arts Center in Brookline, MA. Everybody is warm and friendly. Egos are left at the door. It feels like a group of friends who treat their training seriously while still managing to enjoy themselves. The Martial Arts will provide you a great sense of accomplishment in a wide range of life enhancing ways.
This art emphasizes ground fighting techniques and submission holds involving joint-locks and chokeholds also found in numerous other arts with or without ground fighting emphasis. The premise of BJJ is that most of the advantage of a larger, stronger opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes, both of which are somewhat negated when grappling on the ground.
Florian Martial Arts Center students practice conventional boxing, Thai boxing, kickboxing, and other forms of striking for mixed martial arts. You begin with a warm-up tailored to MMA striking movements, and then practice a specific combination, movement, or defense. There is usually controlled MMA sparring or drilling (without grappling) in the second half of the class.
There's more to MMA than meets the eye as participants use a combination of several different fighting techniques and styles to conquer their opponents. Strategy plays a large part in the competitive nature of the sport, and participants need to think quickly on their feet - or on their backs - to get out of challenging positions.
For individuals looking to get instant feedback, personal attention, and techniques specific from a Florian Instructor, private lessons are recommended at our Brookline, MA school. Private lessons are specifically tailored to an individual's needs, pace and structured with linear learning in mind. Private lessons are available from our high level coaches that have come up through the Florian system.

I was a visiting doctor from South Korea to BIDMC.
At first, I was hesitant because I was a stranger, but I ended up attending Florian Marshall Arts Center.
The professional staff welcomed me warmly and it was regretttable that I visited late.
I couldn't train much because of Covid-19, and I returned to Korea after the research period, but I have good memories.
I highly recommend this institution to anyone from abroad.

I'm an experienced wrestler and a few years into no-gi bjj. Florian Martial Arts Center was extremely welcoming and professional. My first class I went for a Saturday early afternoon bjj class. This Saturday class size was 3 students to the instructor. Most likely due to covid19 concerns/restrictions, otherwise I would expect a larger turnout even on Saturday. This actually resulted in amazing personal attention essentially like a private lesson. Looking forward to trying more classes during the week.

Amazing instruction and environment. Top notch facility. Professor Keith and all the coaches at Florian ensure the students are set up for success no matter what path they take with their martial arts training. Family like environment makes all feel welcome. Expect to train and work hard while having a great time.

This place is fantastic! I'm new to Mixed Martial Arts, and Florian Martial Arts Center helped structure a program based on my needs. There are programs for anyone regardless of experience or end goal. If you're looking to compete, a new way to exercise, or even new friendships, Florian Martial Arts Center is the place for you.

Been a long time student here. Great atmosphere, clean gym, top notch teaching. Keith is a great professor, able to explain and execute technique that works. The best thing about the gym is that he is here EVERY DAY teaching, so you are always getting the best instruction possible. He is extremely friendly and relatable, and has adult classes at night and kids classes during the day. He
