December is National Cat Lover's Month. How great is it to have an entire month dedicated to those of us who love cats? I am proud to say that I am definitely in this camp. This is a very busy time of year but don't forget to celebrate your feline friends this month. Older pets deserve the spotlight!
As an AAHA-accredited practice, Hill Country Animal Hospital strives to provide the highest quality in surgical care. Our facility is staffed by a team of skilled veterinarians and skilled veterinary technicians, all of whom provide a safe and comfortable experience for your pet. Surgery for your animal companion is never an easy choice.
Digital radiographs, also known as x-rays, are an essential diagnostic tool for veterinarians. High-definition images such as these are useful in examining your pet's bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity, and other parts of the body. Importantly, digital radiographs can identify problems that a physical examination may not, such as a broken bone or a tumor.
Ultrasounds are an important part of the diagnostic process. Pain-free and completely non-invasive, this technique is highly useful in examining organ activity or blood flow. Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves to produce an image in real-time, which provides a more accurate and complete picture of your pet's internal organs.
Echocardiograms are key to identifying potential heart problems in your animal companion. Also known as an "echo", an echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. Like ordinary ultrasounds, they use high-frequency sound waves to produce a two-dimensional video of your pet's cardiovascular system. Echocardiograms help us assess the thickness of the heart walls, the size of the heart chambers, and the heart blood flow patterns.

I can’t say enough great things about Hill Country Animal Hospital. Dr. Doty and the Hill Country staff are the best! They do such a wonderful job making myself and my dogs feel comfortable and at ease at our appointments. Not to mention, the girls at the front are always smiling and so welcoming. I was apprehensive about finding a new vet when we moved to the area but I am SO happy we found Hill Country Animal Hospital.. they truly treat our dogs as if they were their own.

I brought my puppy to get his final set of vaccinations for the year and he vomited twice on the way home. I was so concerned that I called the office and they were quick to have us come back to see the doctor! Luckily it just ended up being an upset tummy, but I was so impressed with how the staff and doctor handled the situation.
I could tell they were busy but they still made sure my pup was seen as soon as possible! Many thanks to the incredible staff for all of their help and to his wonderful vet, Dr. Macias!!!
I will always come back because I trust the team to provide the BEST care for

Not enough words to describe the care and experience their team provides for you and your furry family. I have taken 2 of my pets here so far and while one has been recovering well with medicine and is doing well, we ran a slew of tests that gave us an unfortunate outcome and had to put her down. The team was extremely caring and communication through the whole process of care and medicine was very clear. As long as I live here they will be caring for my other 4 animals.

We recently moved to San Antonio from Houston where we had the same vet for 13 years who we adored. I was very apprehensive about my fur babies first visit with a new vet being one that I could not accompany… them due to COVID restrictions. Dr. Macias and the staff at Hill Country Clinic are absolutely top notch!! They were sensitive to my concerns and although my conversation with the Dr was via phone call, after speaking with Her, I was completely confident that my two pups were in great and caring hands. She was very informative and took the time to answer any questions I had in terms

After being given a (literal) one inch thick file on my dogs with their ENTIRE medical history, my dog had to have dental surgery that nearly killed him due to a “component of the anesthesia”, which gave him Meningitis. It’s written in the notes!
Then they need a prescription for the awful allergies, of course they can’t refill them unless seen again. In a week, or so.
They’re just over priced hacks in my opinion. Catering to a “high end” Hollywood atmosphere.

The veterinarians and staff at Hill Country Animal Hospital have always taken great care of our dogs and cats, especially our cat Cleo who lived to be 20 years old. They were wonderful and very helpful when Cleo passed away in selecting his urn and a clay disk with his paw print. I love how caring they are at this clinic and the fact that they have state of the art equipment.
