Bridgehaven Mental Health Service
Bridgehaven provides the highest quality community based psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery services, education, and support to those living with mental illness. In 1955-56 The Louisville Section of the National Council of Jewish Women studied mental health needs in Kentucky. They identified a need for programs to help ease the transition from mental hospitals back to community participation.

Bridgehaven was founded in 1958 as a result of this study, the first community program in Jefferson County, and only the third of its type nationally to serve people with psychiatric problems outside a hospital setting.
Services
Why do we refer to the clients at Bridgehaven as MEMBERS? At Bridgehaven, our clients are participants in their own recovery and are members of the team that makes our rehabilitation and recovery services such a success. These services are person-centered and the Bridgehaven members play an active role in the program development to meet the needs of each and every individual attending.
Bridgehaven has programming that provides individual and group skill building activities designed to improve the ability to interact and function in the community. Recovery is a process in which individuals with severe mental illness are encouraged to take control of their lives, set goals, take advantage of opportunities and return to living, learning, working and socializing activities of their choosing.
The Bridgehaven Ambassadors are a special group of volunteers formed in 2006. They provide volunteer support by expanding public awareness of Bridgehaven through inviting people to the Bridge Builder events. They also and support staff and members by assisting with events, mailings, activities and fund raising efforts.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support our members this year at Art as a Part of Healing. The date for 2022 will be announced soon. Every year we take a break to enjoy some summer fun, complete with food, music, and games! All members are invited and encouraged to bring their families.
The Bridgehaven Center for Peer Excellence offters Adult Peer Support Specialist training. The curriculum, designed to be held over a 5-day period, has been approved by the Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities to accommodate peer specialists in Kentucky. Any qualified peer from across the Commonwealth may attend and reasonable hotel room rates will be available at Hotel Louisville.

Decent service with opportunities to socialize. I would like to see less cliques and more endeavors from fellow clients working on their own recovery instead of being overly pampered or just giving up.

Currently utilizing services at Bridgehaven . Therapy is a dual edged sword there are a lot of bogus types and let's not forget much like the idea that church isn't exactly all for the saints but more for the sinner or should be . Therapy is for those who need help and a bit of stability when life doesn't offer as much as you might need with a condition . The facility has opened a new wing which could bring the rating to four stars . It is an outpatient facility that offers professional clinicians, therapists and peer support groups, along with both concentrated therapy for specific issues and

This place is terrible. I used to go there a long time ago. They treat you like a little kid. A lot of the clients choose the easy way out, they rely on the staff to do everything for them like babies! I've had 2 horrible workers there... One is Charlene McAndrews or something like that, and of course Arti Ortega. Control freaks, bullies, thinking they run the whole place when in fact Ramona does! Don't go there unless you wanna be treated like a kid...

Yes. Y'all, if you have a friend or family member that suffers from mental illness, especially schizophrenia, you want to connect with Bridgehaven. This is the EPIC, TOP place to hang out, learn, love, be accepted, teach, create, etc. for someone that has mental illness. I love everyone that works here! They work so hard to help the clients that come here and to help the public learn more about mental illness and schizophrenia. They are truly a life-changing place to land. They have a yearly art sale and I can't wait to support this. The clients are amazing and the staff that supports

As a peer specialist here I’ve watched so many people improve their physical health, their social awareness and skills, their ability to take creative risk, their capacity for independent living, and their long term mental stability. Bridgehaven members work very hard on their recovery, And Bridgehaven provides really good tools to work with
