In 2017, sisters Shelly Schnetz, Stephanie Sikich along with Shelly's stepdaughter Sammy Schnetz took ownership of this treasured local cupcake bakery. Icing on the Cupcake was founded in 2007, and had a rollercoaster ride of growth throughout the next decade as it passed through the hands of multiple owners.
Today, the business operates out of three locations in the Sacramento area that are open for in-store pick up, as well as local delivery and wholesale orders. The bakery is known for its vast offering of unique cupcake flavors that are made from scratch daily with quality ingredients and provide the perfect addition to any special occasion.

I ordered cupcakes online. Ordering gluten free and vegan cupcakes online was not easy and very frustrating. I ended up accidentally ordering double then what I really wanted. I didn't realize until I got the confirmation email and I just decided to leave it alone. With 4 dozen cupcakes, I knew someone would eat them and they wouldn't go to waste. It was for my son and his class. Everyone loved them so much! Very good and no complaints at all. With the confusion, I was still happy and satisfied at the end with the cupcakes.

Anyone with complaints of this business is holding their standards waaaayyy too high. I have had cupcakes from all the local shops and this is the best shop thus far. Not too sweet. Prices are good! They are running a business and need to make money. I was happy with my dozen for $36 something. They made my sons birthday easy and delicious.

Delish Cupcakes! We were specifically on the hunt for cupcakes in the area. Found out that this place is on our way back so we gave it a shot. Very impressive list of seasonal options, so making a decision on a few was difficult. We went with the Boston Cream and Peanut butter chocolate. Both were very rich and delicious. Customer service was helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back to try some different flavors!

They have a lot of unique flavors. The flavors change with holidays and other events. They are a bit pricey but the cupcakes are fresh. Some cupcakes have a sugar flower on top of the frosting. It dissolves in your mouth. One of my favorites is the champagne toast flavor. The coffee mocha one has delicious coffee flavored frosting on top of the chocolate cupcake. They also have mini cupcakes and cookies. I stop by here whenever I visit the Palladio (for a movie or to meet up with friends to shop).

First time to this cupcake store; second ever to this type of store. The store was clean and had a nice selection of cupcakes. They are not huge, but a fair single serving. The joy if the variety of flavors and their freshness. I order a chocolate and a Snickerdoodle cupcake. They were satisfying: moist, good taste that did well representing their flavor.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a cute little bakery, When I first came across this place on yelp I didn't want to try it because all they sell is cupcakes. (or at least that's what I thought. they offer a few other items) I've been to many cupcake shops and I have always been disappointed. What convinced me to take a chance though is that they offer vegan cupcakes.

When visiting Palladio, we must stop by for some
Cupcakes! My son loves ALL of their !! Especially the chocolate & red velvet cupcakes. I got a couple of cupcake bites for the little one and he demolished all 4 within 10 minutes.
The gal at the counter was very nice and the cupcakes were flavorful.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a big fan of cupcakes. But even the most anti-cupcake person can be swayed by these little pillows of goodness. Icing on the Cupcake is an acclaimed business for a reason!

Awesome cupcake bakery! Some cupcakes with classic flavors, others with a unique and exciting flare, all with elegant designs and presentation. Nice selection of gluten free and vegan options too! Stop by for a decadent treat or to brighten up a friend or a meeting. My son and I really love stopping by for one of these sweet delights.

To start, the cupcakes here are LARGE. Maybe about twice the size of grocery store cupcakes. They're also incredibly fresh, you can tell that the bakers take the time to pick out quality ingredients. I had picked out a dozen and it was really difficult to pick flavors because they all looked delicious, and they were. The chocolate cupcake is and will always be a favorite of mine. The lemon a close second.
I'm really glad this spot is a city away from me, otherwise I'd definitely visit often.

I bought 3 cupcakes from this store. This was the first time I was trying out this bakery. I bought a confetti cupcake and when I bit into it there was a black hair in the frosting! It came out in my mouth and it was disgusting! When I called to complain the next day, the woman who answered the phone didn't say anything and just asked for my name and number. She didn't apologize, she didn't offer to refund my money or offer to do anything to make it right. I had to ASK for the refund!! She gave my name and number to the owner Shelley and she eventually offered to refund my money

Love their vegan cupcakes! It's moist and delectable. Best vegan cupcakes I've had. The vegan chocolate turtle is very good! Although I would love if there was more frosting. I didn't have enough on my cupcakes. I wished they had more variety for vegan desserts instead of the one daily vegan cupcakes.

I came for the vegan cupcakes! Each day of the week is a different vegan cupcake, I can’t wait to try them all. The cupcakes are so moist, light and full of flavor. I’ve tried the Vegan Hummingbird and Vegan Guava, the Vegan Guava is my favorite so far. Considering using them for my wedding as well.

I was shoe shopping at DSW when I spyed this place. It is across the parking lot.
The shop is teenie tiny. No chairs or tables. It is definitely a grab n go place. Since we got there in the late weekend afternoon, the inventory was low.
The gal working there was very patient. She did not rush the folks she was helping. The two woman ahead of me, took nearly 10 minutes to decide on 2 cupcakes. They asked the gal what were the flavors. She explained the each of the flavors; she had a positive upbeat attitude. Sweet gal. I on the other hand was getting antsy. LOL.

Better then some of the other local cupcake stores, Icing on the Cupcake is sweet but not sickeningly sweet (which is my major complaint with some of the other chains). They have interesting flavors, and the cupcakes themselves are moist and fluffy. Staff is always happy, friendly, and helpful. Try the cookie sandwiches, they're chewy and delicious!
