The Toucan Rescue Ranch's (TRR) mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rican wildlife. TRR works with a model that focuses on conservation, education, and research to ensure a brighter tomorrow for native wildlife. TRR works closely with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE) who rescues wildlife and brings them to our facility.
TRR provides sanctuary while giving premier medical treatment, rehabilitation, and eventual release into its natural environment. To fulfill our mission, we work with a model that achieves the rescue of rainforest animals and conservation through education and research. As a charitable organization, we are supported through donations like yours.

The Toucan Rescue Ranch (TRR) mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rica wildlife. TRR works with a model that focuses on conservation, education, and research to ensure a brighter tomorrow for Costa Rica wildlife. TRR emphases on the care, rehabilitation, and release of national wildlife.
It's the 6th Annual Sloth Ironman Games at the one and only Toucan Rescue Ranch! In 2017 Toucan Rescue Ranch and The Sloth Institute came together to form Saving Sloths Together (SST), a Costa Rica-wide project seeking to provide greater opportunity for sloths in need. By combining each organization's skills and knowledge we are able to improve the process of sloth rescue, rehabilitation, and release in Costa Rica.
Using the popular US payment platform called Venmo, the club will create an easy, quick, and reliable way to support TRR wildlife while on the go. We created this as a way for those who may not have the chance to come visit or donate to our campaigns, but still believe in our mission. Every little bit counts!
TICKET PURCHASE REQUIRED: No public access except with an Educational Walk ticket purchase. COMPRA DE BOLETO REQUERIDO: Cerrado al pblico excepto con compra de entradas para caminar. As a rescue center, our first concern is the animals in our care. Being touched by the public can be stressful for the animal and in most cases dangerous for the person.
The Release Site is an ever-expanding component of TRR. TRR has two properties, one parcel of 25 acres and another of 16 acres where the soft release program and interns house is located. Here, we provide volunteer and internship opportunities for zoology, biology, veterinary, and other wildlife professions to gain hands-on-experience with releasing and monitoring wildlife.

We had a fantastic experience with a virtual tour today. The animals they showed us were amazing (sloth focus - we saw both types and many different ages) and they shared so much information about them. The tour was given as a birthday gift and Toucan Rescue Ranch really went out of their way to help celebrate the birthday. Would recommend this as a virtual activity and hope to get to visit in person at some point.

Rescue Center that does an awesome labor. To know that places like this exist is good and sad at the same time. I did the regular tour (~2h) and the guide (can't remember her name) was very knowledgable and extremely helpful when taking pictures for us. If you buy through SmileAmazon.com a percentage of your purchase will be donated to this center - you'll need to set it on your account first.

This place is great, it gets things done right, respectfully towards the animals. The price may seem a bit high at first but you get to learn a lot of interesting things while supporting all the hard work that is achieved. The visit including coffee and sloths allows you to see these animals outside of their enclosure, which is clearly a plus ! We didn’t regret choosing this option and clearly recommend this place!

In the beginning I was hesitant of the pricing of slothie & coffee, but the extra time with the sloths in close distance made it totally worth it. The stories around the animals living at the ranch and that they are trying to rehabilitate them is very touching, I totally support places like these and will donate in the future. I can recommend this place to anyone, easy to get there as well by public bus from San Jose (CR450) or Uber (CR5000).

What an amazing, up-close, educational experience! I learned something about every single animal we saw.
You could tell how passionate our guide was about her work and the work they're doing at the rescue. They truly try to rehabilitate the animals they can and return them to the wild. Visitors aren't even allowed to see those animals. The animals you do interact with are permanent residents who are either incapable of surviving in the wild, or were not successfully reintroduced to their natural habitat.
If you love animals, you'll love this tour.

Very interesting tour and a lot of information. Great to know have such places and helping to rescue the animals, mostly caught by humans as pet....or for blackmarket. Compliment and very recommended to spend this 2 hours to see and learn. Great to have prople to do such things in their freezing, even knowing it is only a small drop on the hot stone. Beside this i also learned a small things, could cause big effect. Throwing fruit out off the car, calls the rat ans maybe the rat getting kolled by car when it is on the street. So no real big problem....... but the rat is the food of the owl and

Really fabulous experience at the Toucan Rescue Ranch! Our guide, Daniel, was well informed and personable! Even though many animals are not available for viewing (to facilitate a better chance of rehabilitation), we saw an exceptional level of activity during a tour that went beyond the advertised times. This tour is well worth the price, and the effort to prioritize the animals' welfare is evident.

I highly recommend visiting this Rescue facility. All money spent here will go towards keeping these amazing animals alive, and most of the people who work here are volunteers. More people visiting allows more animals to be rescued. All non-five-star-reviews of this place are due to the price, but I could not think of anything more worthy of your money. Maybe rent. Or food. Or hospital bills. But this is pretty high up there. The volunteers are very nice and knowledgeable, and care for the animals with the utmost respect and love. To conclude, I would rate this place 57/59 because the coffee was
