Nevada Orthopedics is more than pleased to announce that Kathleen Sturrock PA-C has joined Paul Shonnard MD and Hilary Malcarney MD to further enhance excellent orthopedic care in northern Nevada. The level of patient care and quality orthopedics is enhanced with the joining of two compassionate experienced Board Certified Orthopedic surgeons.
Providing high quality patient care is my professional focus, and I am proud to be a part of Nevada Orthopedics to achieve this goal. My interest in orthopedics, and specifically sports medicine, stems from my own experiences on the playing field. I have always enjoyed the concept of teamwork, and I have seen my role on the team evolve from an athlete myself to a physician on the sidelines.
Having graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, I completed my Master of Physician Assistant Studies at UT Health San Antonio in 2017. After graduation, I had been practicing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area prior to joining Nevada Orthopedics in 2020.
I am a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and am certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants as well as licensed by the state of Nevada.I have also been inducted into the National Honor Society for Physician Assistants, Pi Alpha. Originally from Texas, I moved to Reno in 2020 and have been exploring all the great outdoor activities Nevada has to offer.

Any x-rays taken within the last 6 months and/ or any MRI burned to CD or printed to film.
We welcome the opportunity to share our experience concerning hip replacement surgery done by Dr Paul Shonnard. My husband, Abel went to Dr Shonnards office with what we thought was the need for knee replacement surgery. Our initial appointment was with Shana Fearnley, Dr Shonnards assistant. Watching Abel walking to the examining room, Shana questioned whether his knee pain was actually coming from his knee.

I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Malcarney and the staff at Nevada Orthopedics. She is known in N. Nevada as THE shoulder Dr., and for good reason. Some highlights of my experience was a no-nonsense and clear diagnosis, complete verbal walk-through of the surgical/non-surgical options, professional bedside pre-surgery, transparent discussion post-surgery including all surgery notes, when requested. Great follow up with realistic recovery goals and expectations. N. Orthopedics doesn't stack their patients up in the waiting room. I visited their office five times, and never waited more than
