The slow ebb of the tide and tranquil strolls along the shore are here, in the heart of Provincetown's East End Gallery District. The epitome of old Cape Cod living, a stay at Poor Richard's Landing provides a return to simpler times. We offer fully equipped studio and one-bedroom Wharf Cottages perched right on the beach, two unique apartments in our historic Captain's House, and a community vibe that you won't find anywhere else on the Cape.
The expansive decks areas, lush gardens, and views to the end of the Earth provide the perfect retreat on your next visit to Provincetown. Life here is much as it was in the 1930s when Tennessee Williams made this his summer home. All the spaces are constructed with natural elements from the surrounding waterfront.

Services
In the 1930s, a local Portuguese family started Camp Avellar, offering food and housing to the working artists and writers arriving in Provincetown with more inspiration than resources. The family mingled with and supported the working artists by providing inexpensive housing and work space. Mrs. Angelina "Ma" Avellar befriended such writers as Sinclair Lewis and Eugene O'Neill prior to their notoriety.
Our studio and one bedroom Wharf Cottages feature multiple windows overlooking Provincetown Harbor, the hills of Truro and beyond. Life on The Landing is much as it was in the 1930s when Tennessee Williams made this his summer home. Shared use of the common areas include an outdoor gas grill, picnic table, lounge chairs, beach chairs and floats for the use of all of our guests.
The Captain's House is the best of both worlds. Steps from the beach, but offering year-round rentals. Both units have fully equipped kitchens, basic cable and wireless internet. Perched on the second or third floor, you'll enjoy panoramic views of Provincetown Harbor. Shared use of the common areas include an outdoor gas grill, picnic table, beach chairs and floats for the use of all of our guests.

I have been staying at the Landing for many years now, and it’s so much more than a vacation spot. Whether it’s for a few days or several weeks, Sarah and Di create a fun and welcoming community atmosphere that make it The Most special place in all of P-town. The cottages are clean and have everything you need, and you can step right out to the quiet Bay beach for a swim or a walk to the pier. I always feel right at home at the Landing, and feel the community is my summer family.

When I slip through the painted saloon doors of PRL, I am struck by the warmth of the merry band of residents whom I have come to know and cherish over the years. Their embrace, curiosity, and acceptance inspire me. The wharf cottages are masterfully run by Sarah and Diane, who have welcomed me ‘home’ for many years, with a cocktail, fresh garden produce and a hug. I have my favorite cottage, with its view of the arc of the bay and the aura from an earlier era. I spend much of my time in the clear cool water, just steps from the door, simply reading on the deck, or enjoying long conversations

Can’t think of any reason why this wouldn’t be marked as a 5* place to stay.
It’s quintessentially ProvinceTown. It’s exactly what you want in terms of ye olde coastal charm. It’s cosy. It’s so central that it’s absolutely perfectly positioned; and yet once you step through the archway you’re into a whole other world or tranquility and charm.
Sarah and Diane are perfect hosts. They are a joy to know and as helpful as anyone could ever hope for.
The cabins are distinctly delicious and each has its own very special charm. We’ve love different aspects of each one. They are perfect

Much like New York, everyone will tell you poor Richards was better just before you got there. The same as New York --don't believe them. It's of a time and place in history, but the time and the place is yours -- enjoy and relish this magical spot filled with and unbelievable history and a chance to be in a place in Provincetown that is truly unique .
