Brothers Of The Sacred Heart
We believe in a holistic approach to education. We believe that young men learn from the total experience of the school setting. We attempt to address the religious, academic, social, psychological, physical, and cultural development of students through our programs, classes, service, and faith. We are currently accepting applications for the 2022 - 2023 School Year.

In admitting students, we look for young people who can profit from and contribute to the religious and educational mission of CHS, which aligns with the mission of the Brothers of Sacred Heart. Catholic High School strives to create an atmosphere for learning that provides each student with opportunities to thrive.

FOUNDED IN 1894 by the religious order of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, Catholic High School continues today as an independent, Catholic, all-male college preparatory high school. Catholic High School has been recognized six times by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
In 1894, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart established a school in Baton Rouge under the name St. Vincent's Academy, which has become known as Catholic High School. In 1894, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart established St. Vincent's Academy. From a humble beginning with 106 students, the school continued to grow so that by the late 1920s the old frame building that housed St. Vincent's no longer could contain its student body of nearly 300 boys.
The Brothers of the Sacred Heart is a religious congregation of men founded by Andre' Coindre, a diocesan priest, in Lyon, France, in 1821. Their mission is the evangelization of young people, especially through the ministry of education.

Initially, the brothers' new community went through very difficult times, but by 1847 it had grown and prospered to the point that five missionary brothers were sent to the United States at the request of the first bishop of Mobile, Alabama.
Mrs. Lisa Harvey received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and a master's degree in religious education from Loyola University of New Orleans. She taught for six years at St. John Interparochial School in Plaquemine and came to Catholic High School in 2000, serving as a religion teacher and moderator of the dance team, Bruinettes.
THE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS is responsible for the governance and operation of Catholic High School. The Board of Directors' responsibility is to ensure Catholic is operated in accordance with the mission and charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The Board delegates to the president, principal, and school administration the executive authority to operate the school in accordance with that mission and charism.

The absolute worst 4 years of my life. Everyday was a battle and struggle to get through. Rigorous discipline with no fun, 0 privacy. I felt as though I was an animal being caged, dehumanized. Lisa Harvey traumatized me so bad that I am now in intensive trauma therapy twice weekly to recover. The memories of this school will haunt me forever.

Went here 8th Grade year, in 9th grade now. Rules might be a little authoritative, however it balances out with the fact that I am getting the best education in the state of Louisiana, as the only 6 time award winning blue ribbon school (As of 4/26/21)

This school was really stressful! But I liked the blackened chicken pasta a lot.

Currently Enrolled in this fine insititution. So far it has been the best experience for me. I love it here, I don't understand why my peers hate it here.

I realized why I love this school when my Spanish teacher told us if we brought Dwayne "the rock" Johnson to her class we would all get A's.

I attended Grandparents day 2015 with my Grandson Houston Carley. I was pleased to learn that God and Country still are a big part of the curriculum. The Jazz band and choir were also fantastic.
