Our hope with the strategic plan is to create clear and measurable goals for the next 3-5 years and very specific initiatives to accomplish those goals. Focused on an ever-increasing need to become more competitive within our industry, this plan paves the way for us to achieve two initiatives: to become the "supplier of choice" for individualized health care and the "employer of choice" in our area.
We believe that each resident has activity preferences that must be met to achieve happiness. Our team gathers information on each person and then creates an individualized plan of leisure activities. A group of residents, with appointed officers, who meet monthly to voice resident concerns, discuss fundraising efforts and plan various activities and trips.
We now have sensory and cognitive bins and interactive programming in the Sanctuary. The sensory and cognitive bins are for staff and visitors to use with a resident to successfully engage him/her in a leisure activity, no matter what their cognitive ability is. Laminated idea sheets are provided in each bin to help educate visitors on the appropriate activity for their loved one.
Research has found that holistic approaches to wellness have a positive effect on people's health and wellness. Activity staff members have been trained in the following holistic approaches to use with our residents in the Sanctuary, during one-to-one visits and in group activities. Aromatherapy, with various essential oils, to induce calming, relaxing, stimulating, refreshing, soothing moods and to assist with memory retrieval.
Our food service professionals at The Center provide well-balanced meals, meeting the nutritional need of all our residents. In order to honor food preferences, we offer a variety of home cooked and freshly prepared entrees with daily specials served directly from our newly built kitchen in the dining room.
