Services
The core of our program is our free, do-it-yourself workshop space. During Open Shop we offer tools, work space, and repair coaching to our visitors to help them maintain access to safe, affordable, sustainable transportation by bike. But do-it-yourself doesn't mean you have to do it alone: our staff and volunteer mechanics are there to put the right tools in your hands and guide you through any repair.
We have many more used bikes to choose from if you come visit us in person. Our refurbished adult bikes start at $35 and our refurbished youth bikes start at $15. For those unable to afford our refurbished bikes, we have many unrefurbished bikes available at a deep discount and we can provide the tools and advice to help make them safe and get them rolling.
We provide our Open Shop services for free, but we depend on donations to sustain the program and financial contributions are always appreciated. We also accept donations of bicycles, tools, and bike parts and accessories in any condition. Refurbishing and selling donated bikes is one of our biggest sources of funding.
We have a variety of opportunities for those looking for a fun, engaging, educational volunteer experience, regardless of mechanical knowledge or experience with bikes.
By volunteering at Boston Square Community Bikes, you will help others maintain access to affordable and sustainable transportation by bicycle, help us fix and recycle old bicycles to keep them out of landfills and sustain our programming, and help yourself learn and develop bicycle repair and maintenance skills.

Super helpful volunteers, welcoming environment, and affordable bike parts. I’ve never fixed anything on a bike but I felt really comfortable and I was so glad I could learn a few things and have someone there to make recommendations and provide help. I bought a used tube for 3 bucks and a rack for 5 bucks!

I came in to buy a used bike which would have been a guaranteed sale because I wasn't planning on leaving without one. I really needed a bike and they told me they only sell bikes on Fridays and Saturdays. So what I got from that is your open for business but just won't sell me a bike on a Wednesday even though your open. Thats a terrible business policy. They literally turned down an automatic sale. If your open for business than u should always be willing to sell your product. I've also bought 2 bikes from there before so I literally spend 80- 100 dollars everytime I come in. The main reason

The guys there were friendly and very helpful. I have an old (vintage) Raleigh bike with a drum brake that needed work. I didn't know what to do and others I know who work on bikes never sawnone like that before. It didn't faze them a bit. When I rode up, one of them walked over and said he used to own a bike like that. They gave me a lot of help and advice. They also have assorted parts and pieces needed to repair most bikes.

Just recently brought a couple of my road bikes to the community center. Both Dan and Cody (the volunteers that afternoon) were *super* helpful and friendly. I walked away having my bike maintenance questions answers and feeling much more confident in my general bike knowledge. 10 out of 10 recommend if you need a repair, have questions or both (like me!)

I have only had 1 visit here and it will be my last. I went there to buy a cost effective set of rims . Initially the customer service was reasonable from what i could see. I watched how 1 customer complaint was handled while I was assisted with rims. Not impressed, rude would be an understatement. The person assisting me however, was very helpful to find good rims. I put the front rim on first and realized it would not work with current brakes. And one needed to be adjusted. I looked for the time your shop would open next, which would not be until Friday. I decided to just sell them after I had
