Moles are common. They can be present at birth, while new moles tend to develop during childhood and young adult life. Moles may be genetically determined or triggered by excess sun exposure. While moles are harmless, sometimes a type of skin cancer called melanoma can grow in or near a mole. This is why it is important to check your skin and be aware of your moles and any changes within them.

I went to this office in winter 2021 after struggling with hair loss and thinning hoping for some answers. I felt my concerns were significantly diminished and she only looked at the middle part of my hair which is not where the thinning is occurring. She said I was ‘fine’ yet agreed to do some blood work. 3 weeks later I still had no word on my blood work. I called the office and all they had to say was everything looked normal. As a health care professional myself, I was very disappointed with my experience and lack of compassion. I do not recommend for hair loss concerns.

We were unable to get an appointment at Thomas Jefferson for 4 months. I called Dr. Spiers. While originally, they said the 1st appt. I could get would be July, The receptionist, Joy, said she would leave Dr. Spiers an Email explaining the special circumstances . I got a call back the next day from Maryanne. Dr. Spiers stayed late tonight 4/25 to meet with my wife. She gave us peace of mind We don't yet know the results. The important thing I want you to

I have a history of squamous cell carcinoma. I recently moved into the area from Virginia. I was long overdue for a body scan and a neighbor suggested a different dermatologist but was unable to get an appointment for several months. I called Dr. Spiers office and was pretty much told the same. The operator I spoke to seemed to be genuinely concerned and offered to take my number and keep a lookout for an open appointment. A week later she called to tell me that there was a cancellation and asked if i could come in the next day. My appointment was for 5pm and was not seen until after 6pm. Dr. Spiers

I've been a patient for several years - have added my family members as well. Dr. Spiers has always been spot on with diagnoses and treatment options, is pleasant and friendly but professional. The office staff have repeatedly been able to schedule an appointment for us in a timely manner if it is of urgent nature. After dozens of visits over the years, I can not think of a single experience that didn't meet or exceed my expectations. I highly recommend the practice.

I went to Dr. Spiers for my acne from age 9-14. After going through countless treatments of antibiotics, retinoids, etc., she claimed that she had exhausted all treatments and was prepared to put me on birth control at 11. What doctor puts an 11-year old on the pill? That's crazy. After that appointment, I knew I wanted to switch dermatologists. Dr. Spiers is very eccentric and is quick to jump to last-resort acne treatments when failing to try other options. I don't recommend her.
