Hallux Abducto Valgus (HAV), commonly known as a Bunion, is a misaligned big toe joint that can become swollen and tender. The deformity causes the first joint of the big toe to slant outward while the toe itself points to the smaller toes. The major reason a person might experience bunions is in the genetics of their family.
If your son or daughter is not participating as often in sports or in other physical activities or is complaining of foot pain, don't think it's caused by "growing pains". Your son or daughter may have a common developmental foot condition such as flat feet that could be simply treated with a custom foot orthotic.
Many of the foot problems that we treat are due to faulty biomechanics. In other words, when the bones in your foot are not aligned properly it causes you to over compensate when walking or running. The most effective and simplest way to correct these painful foot conditions is with a custom orthotic.

Continual and elevated blood sugar levels can cause the nerves in the feet to stop working, particularly the nerves that are responsible for "feeling". We call these nerves sensory nerves.

Staff is very friendly. Dr. Nelson listens to all of my concerns/issues and I feel I’m being heard. He is also detailed on his treatment planning. He’s a “PRO”! Oh and Elizabeth (I believe she is one of his assistants) is amazing. She goes above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant visit and that you understand what the doctor is doing or plan to do. I highly recommend!

Dr. Nelson, and his staff, were professional and friendly. I went to him for a second opinion on a foot issue. He knew the other podiatrist I had gone to for years and talked highly of him. He gave me the exact information (without knowing what the other doctor said) on treatment. I was impressed he did not try to act like he knew more than the other doctor or say anything bad about the surgery he had performed. Actually, he said I should go back to my original doctor if surgery is needed after exhausting all other resources. That is a doctor with integrity; not easy to find. I highly recommend

For years I have been misdiagnosed. In one session I was diagnosed with several issues and was given a clear path forward. I'm 56 years old and have never been to a doctor's office where the staff was so nice I almost didn't want to leave. The only regrettable part is I had been traveling 30 to 45 minutes to see other doctors and this doctors was 4 minutes from my home. I hope this helps. Have a blessed year.

Dr. Nelson is one of the most amazing doctors I have ever been to. He has the best bed side manners and is so knowledgable about his work. I had surgery on my ankle and he was Great. Healed very quickly and he was there to answer any questions or concerns I had through out my healing time.
I have recommended several others to Dr Nelson and they have been just as pleased and happy as I am. I would totally recommend this Dr. to anyone.
