We began in 1993 as a small-town two doctor practice and grew as the town grew; however, no matter the size of the clinic, we want to maintain the personalized "small-town" feel. Dogs, cats, horses, livestock, and exotic hooved animals are among those we treat at the clinic. We have used Sunset Canyon Vet for almost 14 years. Our recent visit was to explore a lesion on our newest dog that was of concern. It warrants more exploration. We fully trust that the vets at Sunset Canyon will find the answer and make the best recommendation possible to treat Abner.

There’s no one we trust more than Dr Portie to care for our dogs! We travel all the way from Pflugerville to Dripping Springs, if that tells you anything! Dr Portie is so kind to our boys, and we know they are in the best hands for all their needs, ranging from annual physicals to dental cleanings, where sedation is required. Thank you, Dr Portie and staff!

Dr Portie is always amazing! He’s thorough and will give you the straight facts but has a very sensitive and realistic approach to my dog’s health. He presents a few choices for me to decide on so that I am comfortable with my dog’s treatment plan.
The techs are also very caring and great when handling my lil guy (cairn terrier)!

Everyone is so friendly. My dog is a rescue and didn’t want to get on the scale. It seems silly, but it was a big deal to him. They were so patient and not demanding. They just waited until later when he was more acclimated. I’ve seen multiple vets and they are all great. I highly recommend them.

I love this clinic. Every time I have to go to the vet, I always walk away feeling taken care of, heard, and never over budget because they are always willing to discuss price and options. All the staff seems to genuinely enjoy their job and the care is top notch. Hands down the best vet clinic in town!

We absolutely love every single staff member at Sunset Canyon Vet Clinic! But, there is one person that has seen us every single time that we have asked for him and that is Dr. Josh Garcia. We have 2 dogs and seven cats that have all seen him multiple times through the years. But, our oldest dog, Hunter, has had some very serious illnesses and subsequent surgeries. Every single time, Dr. Garcia has performed those surgeries and we are convinced that Dr. Garcia has saved his life a couple of times. We are profoundly grateful for Dr. Garcia’s skill, professionalism, knowledge, empathy, and kindness

Dr. Portie has been caring for my little old lady min-pin, Mitzi, who is blind and has lung problems, as well as mammary tumors. Anytime he prescribes a new med or treatment plan, he requests that I call him in a few days to see if there has been improvement or not. He often calls to check on her, and is very compassionate. I feel he provides the quality of care he would hope a vet would give to one of his beloved pets.
All of the staff are caring and polite when they come to get Mitzi or help in the office. I have, and will continue to, recommend Sunset Valley and the fine vets and staff. So

I have never been disappointed with the care and attention that my dogs and horses receive when visiting Dr. Pruitt. He and his staff are incredibly kind and attentive. I always feel that my concerns are heard and addressed (with a conservative approach when possible-save $). We are never rushed through the examination/treatment process. Treatment plans are carefully discussed and my questions are always answered. I highly recommend this practice.
