The challenge at the time was that Mt. Hermon lodge had never had a permanent home since its founding nearly a century before and the popularity of Masonry in Asheville was so strong that the lodge counted more than 500 men as members. Thus the Temple project began in the summer of 1909 out of necessity when Mt. Hermon Lodge No. 118 and Asheville Chapter No. 25 of the Royal Arch together purchased the lot on Broadway.
The Asheville Masonic Temple is home to Asheville's most intimate and unique 400-seat Theater. It features hand-painted sets created in 1915 by the traveling Masonic artist from Chicago, Thomas Gibbs Moses. The preservation of this theater is breathtaking and the 52 backdrops that it offers for your event will set yours apart from others in the area.

We recently hosted a 50th birthday party at the Asheville Masonic Temple and everything was beyond spectacular. The space itself with its historic features and wonderful intimate theater was the perfect backdrop for our event. The theater has many vintage backdrops to choose from and really set the scene for our Enchanted Forest Party theme. The venue, in conjunction with Shay Brown Event planner Amy Wood, made for the perfectly executed event. Amy is the most organized professional and will deliver the most perfectly planned event you could hope for. She is outstanding! The vendors that the Temple

This is a very special venue, and we were so thrilled to be married here this fall. The building itself is gorgeous with so many special spaces to enjoy... but the stage with its beautiful backdrop made for absolutely gorgeous photos which we'll treasure forever. This was the perfect indoor "outdoor" that we were hoping for.
Taylor with Shay Events was a fabulous coordinator; she was kind, open and thorough throughout the planning process, and made everything feel worry-free on the big day. She also worked with us on a few custom displays, including our 1,000 folded paper cranes and our projector

I pretty much forced my boyfriend into doing this with me and guess what? Amazing experience! He loved every minute and so did I. Tad was incredibly knowledgeable of Asheville’s history and past. He also put a bit of comedy into an otherwise eerie subject. We have never enjoyed a tour that much. At the end we got to share some one on one time with Tad and got to know a little more about his POV on the whole subject. 20/10 recommend!

A beautiful historic building which is continually getting better. So much history and quality craftsmanship you don't see often anymore. The people inside are friendly and always willing to share the history of the building and it's place in Asheville. Not only neat for the Masonic history, but now was an event venue with the one-of-a-kind theater inside. Stop by if you have a chance!
