Describes Dr. Jenks, In my college geriatric rotations I saw that many facilities had difficulty obtaining consistent and timely eye care services for their residents. This was troubling to me, because I knew unaddressed vision issues increase residents' fall risk, social isolation, cognitive decline, and assistance needed from facility staff.
Every aspect of your residents' safety and quality of life is enhanced substantially through routine vision care services, including:. Our services are particularly important for your residents with diabetes, dementia, previous stroke, or long-term use of psychotropic medications. Our doctors get to know your residents and your staff.
There are both facility financial savings and reduction in staff tasks through our vision care services. Eliminate need to send accompanying facility staff to offsite appointments (if family or responsible party is unavailable). Good vision enables residents to be more independent in their self-care, which translates to lower daily demand on your caregivers.
We're committed to your regulatory compliance through timely response to your appointment requests, comprehensive examination and treatment of vision challenges, accurate documentation, and provision of assistive devices. Our doctors are well versed in the surveyor guidance contained within the Critical Element Pathways, specifically the Communication-Sensory and Activities of Daily Living CEPs.
To assure an accurate and timely 'paper trail' regarding your residents' vision care services is available to you, Outreach Eye Care will:. Provide a copy of all scheduled services one week prior to visit to assure resident availability. Review with a member of your facility staff all provided vision exams, exam outcomes, and appointments that required rescheduling (due to resident's unavailability).
