I highly recommend Spectrum Eye Center! The staff is very professional, friendly, informative and well organized. Being a new patient I was nervous about my appointment, the staff made me feel comfortable. Dr Athans was very thorough and explained everything as we went through the exam. My third year going to Spectrum Eye for annual eye exam. Very impressed with the overall process which was efficient. They track the times you are checked in all through when you leave. This visit was approximately 45 minutes. Dr. Athans is extremely thorough in the exam process and takes his time to explain everything about the health of your eyes. Always feel like I leave understanding what is being looked at and why. Highly recommend for annual eye exams.

The staff and Dr. Keel are amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I never spent much time waiting, as they operated very efficiently. Dr. Keel was very thorough, checking things I have never had checked before at an eye exam, while also taking the time to explain what everything meant.

The service is always exceptional! Front desk staff is friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. The same goes for the staff of individuals supporting Dr. Keel....an upbeat attitude and knowledgeable, also the while providing excellent service. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the outstanding attention I receive from Dr. Keel. I finally convinced my husband, Clive, to switch eye doctors and he has learned the change was a great one!

Great experience at Spectrum Eye Center. The front desk associates were prompt and very nice with. Mr.John was over all just AMAZING! He was very friendly and customer service oriented. He also was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and even gave some great recommendations on protection I would need for my new glasses and had me in and out in less than 30mins. All of the clinicians I saw were affable, professional, and highly capable. I have absolutely no issue with any of the actual treatment I received; in fact, I think it may be some of the best eye care I've yet to encounter. However, I was left waiting for 45 minutes in between getting my preliminary information and seeing the doctor. There didn't seem to be any obvious reason for the wait. I also found it inappropriate that Bibles were part of the decor in the waiting area. I'm here to get new glasses, not save my soul.

My mother, who has early onset dementia, scheduled her appointment with Carolina Eye clinic in Southern Pines, but told me that her appointment was with Spectrum Eye. When we showed up at Spectrum eye, and found out that she did not have an appointment, the ladies at the desk managed to squeeze her in with the Doctor right away. They were so friendly, and went way above and beyond, and made sure that she wasn't embarrassed by her mistake. I decided to try Spectrum Eye Center for the first time and I was very disappointed. As soon as I walked in, I waited in a roped off area and finally someone comes to get you for round one. I was constantly herded to different stations like cattle. Every room had different technicians performing different duties. The hallways were crowded and busy. When I made it to the doctor's office, my exam lasted 10 minutes. I spent about 2 hours there and saw the doctor for 10 minutes. There's something wrong with this picture. What happened to patient-centered care? I was hustled from the moment I walked in the door. Every staff member seemed rushed. The waiting area was loud, crowded and obnoxious. I was handed a long itemized bill at the end of a standard annual visit, which of course I couldn't read because they had just dilated my pupils. This felt so impersonal like a factory.... get 'em in, get the money, get 'em out. I won't be going back and I certainly don't recommend it.

First, let me say that Dr Bumgarner and staff provide 5 Star service. This is important to me because I have serious eye issues having had several eye surgeries at Carolina Eye Assoc, my file there is at least 2 inches thick.
My problem is with the eye glasses department. My experience has steadily declined in this area. Previously my prescription was ordered to fit metal frames. It came back to fit rimless frames. This error was not detected until I came in to replace my lens. A simple check when th lens arrived would have caught this error before I came in. After they came in, I developed

Looking for prompt, individualized treatment at an optometrist's office? Better look elsewhere then, because this place isn't for you. I arrived at 3:00 for an eye exam and wasn't seated until thirty minutes later. Then I got shuttled around from room to room by different technicians, with some more waiting time in between. All of the technicians were very friendly and competent, so this is definitely NOT a knock on them or their skills, but rather a criticism of the overall feel of getting herded around the place with the other patients like a bunch of cattle. I realized that I was out of contacts this morning so I went on the Spectrum Eye Center website to see how I could order some replacements as soon as possible. Their online system was easy to use and for a small additional fee, my contacts will be shipped to my home tomorrow! I already loved Spectrum for their great care and wonderful staff, now I love how easy them make re-ordering contacts!

The staff was great unfortunately I can't say the rest for D.Athens. From what I was told I had the ability to try different contacts until I found the comfortable one. Dr Athen not only let me try just 2 but got the prescription wrong 2 times didn't ask me to come back to see how the contact was feeling referred me to a different place to order my contacts when I was ready. I was not ready cause my contact wasn't the rite strength. What a great way to pass the bucket absolutely hate service like this. I WILL NOT REFEER ANYONE.
