Established in 1978, Abiqua Wind Vineyard is a small family estate vineyard and bonded winery nestled in the Cascade Foothills in Scotts Mills, OR. For over three decades the vines have thrived in a truly unique terroir while our family's expertly tended the own-rooted cuttings in Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Hands-on growing, and careful craftsmanship are the secrets to our acclaimed and distinct wines. Our footprints in the vineyard, fingerprints on the vines, and gentle touch in the cellar guarantee memorable experience. When you drink our artisan wine, you become part of our family's story. Experience a flight of your favorites or ours in the comfort of our intimate tasting room.
Services
Experience the deep and abiding passion for wine-growing and profound dedication to our legacy - family. High school sweethearts Pete and Marcia Buffington discovered a late-in-life passion for growing and making wine. They raised their children on the Southwestern Oregon family cattle and sheep ranch and Pete plied the nearby ocean waters as a commercial fisherman.
A confluence of Alsatian and Grigio styles - Dry with a citrus finish yet full and fruit laden - a unique and terroir driven Willamette Valley Pinot Gris. A Cousin of Riesling, this Swiss variety (Germany's number two white wine) is floral and off-dry. Pairs beautifully with light and/or spicy cuisine.
The drink is fun and complex from start to finish, opening with aromas of peach taffy, pia colada and Ambrosia Salad. There's some roundness on the entry before the vibrant rush of quince and vibrant lemon/lime. Finishing notes of Granny Smith apple peel and jasmine make it ideal for seafood. Off-Dry and brightly spicy, this well-made wine offers surprising fruit flavors centered on papaya.

There's ample acidity to offset the sugar, making this versatile, affordable party wine for those whom prefer their whites with a bit of sweetness. A glorious nose of Key Lime pie, Bartlett pear, lychee and spearmint does not disappoint on the palate.

Great wine, and an even better experience. This is the most down to earth tasting I’ve ever been too, and very educational! A great experience for my visiting parents and myself :)

We had the best evening with Pete and tasting his amazing wines! He entertained us with his stories, and he made us feel so welcome. He even refilled the crackers on the charcuterie when we were running low. His wine far surpassed any other wineries we’ve visited. We left with a case because it was too good to pass up!

Five stars is not enough - We’d give TEN stars if we could! Abiqua Wind Vineyard wines have become our house staples for guests visiting our inn, here on the Oregon Coast. Wine critics from near and far know the Willamette Valley is Pinot country and find that Abiqua’s Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir bring hearty smiles to our most discerning guests.

I wish I could give more stars! This place was so lovely, but Pete (the owner) was even more so. My husband and I had an amazing experience trying some incredible wine. I only wish it could have lasted longer. We will definitely return one day and would highly recommend checking this winery out.

This has become my new wine of choice... I always have a bottle waiting when my guests arrive at my vacation rental as I love to show that 'our' East Willamette Foothills wine can rival any Willamette Valley wine!
And I am grateful the local Silverton, Oregon Safeway store carries a good selection, because I can't wait for my wine club delivery...
I am very much looking forward to this year's (2014) vintage...
I am also recommending that all my guests from Crooked Finger Farms stop in for a tasting.

Had a taste of the wine in Port Orford's Wine and Seafood Festival. Could not leave without buying my favorite. They have many wonderful wines which made it hard to choose. I got a bottle of 2011 COLLIER's Early Muscat, it is a mildly sweet, white wine that I see will be a wonderful after dinner treat.
