If you happen upon our back door during the daytime, you wouldn't think much of it. Just a random, non-descript purple door in the parking lot of a supermarket. However, once the sun sets, the back door swings open. With it, the sweet smells of sugary summer pour out. Just a few feet away, our world-class bake staff is hard at work frying, proofing and glazing treats for the following day.

5 Post Office Square first housed a bakery long before patrons began lining up at the back door. Walmsley's Bakery was established in the summer of 1948, and remained a pillar of the Oak Bluffs community for decades. Walmsley's was known to toss a donut or two out the back door in the wee hours of the morning.
We now offer a variety of donut wall displays to suit the needs of all types of occasions, no matter how big or small! Beautiful handmade donut wall display that fits a total of (30) donuts! DETAILS: - Item will be rented to you for your event, and must be returned within 48 hours of initial pick up.

One of my favorite island traditions is lining up for a donut from Back Door Donuts after dinner. The donuts are fabulous, they are still warm when you get them! The party donut is my personal favorite, but they have so many options to choose from, make sure to try a few! BDD is also open during the day with the same menu (use the front door on post office square). We love Back Door Donuts so much that we served them as dessert at our wedding! Our guests loved them, they were the perfect dance floor dessert!

Amazing bakery to go! Back Door Donuts has been one of the most popular attractions on Martha's Vineyard for years. They have many options and a large variety of baked goods. I'm aware that they've changed ownership somewhat recently. Since it's been more expensive and the portions (specifically the donuts) have gotten smaller. Also, if you are planning on going here, make sure you arrive early in the morning. By midday, they are sold out and don't have many options to fix your craving. However, the items at Back Door Donuts are still superb and I am excited to go back!

Great bakery and very convenient. This place holds a lot of nostalgia and memories for me. Both the bakery and Back Door are special; the pastries are so good and are incomparable to any bakery I've been to. Whether it's a cake, cupcake, donut, muffin, or cookie, Back Door continues to amaze me and warms my soul with such comforting food at a reasonable price and a very soothing atmosphere. A trip to the Vineyard isn't complete without a stop at the island's best bakery.

One Apple fritter, a half dozen glazed donuts and a custom chocolate cake with chocolate icing later and it never gets old.
Amazing donuts, Apple fritter is the best in my opinion. The donuts are almost as good.
As far as the cake goes. I personally think there wasn’t enough actual cake and too much icing. Birthday woman thought differently.

Nice little store with a small section of donuts,fritters and coffee.
The Apple fritters are worth the hype,it was huge and tasted heavenly.
Also had Boston creme donut and it was good.
Service was quick and the all the people working wore masks and gloves.
Definitely stop here for the Apple fritters.
