Services
The purpose of this website is to help you better understand the treatment options for a person with a serious mental health disorder who is unable or unwilling to get help for themselves. Arizona law provides ways to obtain an involuntary mental health evaluation, involuntary treatment, and emergency hospitalization for a psychiatric evaluation.
The one day Mental Health Criminal Justice Summit included our sixth annual David's Hope Awards Dinner at which 220 attendees gathered together to honor law enforcement officers who have exemplified outstanding service and leadership in response to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
Judicial officers and community members who have shown outstanding service and leadership in mental health criminal justice collaboration were also awarded. We want to thank our Step Up AZ 2019 sponsors for their support and partnership which make our summit and awards possible and keep the work of David's Hope moving forward.

Honoring officers who have shown incredible leadership and commitment to assisting individuals in mental health crisis is a goal which David's Hope was delighted to be able to carry out at our first Law Enforcement Awards Dinner. We proudly present to you here the ten officers who were awarded in 2014.
Our mission is to bring treatment rather than incarceration to individuals living with a mental illness. Arizona has one of the highest rates of incarceration of the mentally ill in the nation, being second only to the state of Nevada. In Arizona and across the United States, our jails and prisons have become our new asylums.
David's Hope leads the Arizona Mental Health and Criminal Justice Coalition and invites you to become a partner of the coalition. Our coalition members are invited to participate at any of the junctures where mental health and criminal justice intersect. Our work focuses on Crisis, Corrections, Reentry and Juvenile Justice.

David's Hope is a wonderful, inspiring organization! David's Hope assists mental health and criminal justice entities to collaborate. Local police departments, like Scottsdale, dispatch calls based on location of officers. A short, immediate response is more important than waiting for a veteran officer or one with special training. A situation can escalate too fast to respond any other way.

Davids hope Panders to Police. They promote misleading information about Scottsdale police crisis services. U can request a crisis officer, but they send whoever is closest. Rookies respond to crisis calls (veterans not interested). They bark orders, ESCALATING the call. They will arrest u for not following orders, resisting, disorderly conduct or any other fabricated charge. Scottsdale police turn crisis calls into crimes, punishing mentally ill asking for help, and criminalizing mentally ill. Davids hope is a police supporter, not a mental health advocate.
