Externally, the Aikido dojo is the training hall and mat where practice and instruction take place. Out of respect for our teachers, our training, and ourselves, we bow when entering the dojo space. There is also an internal aikido dojo, one that exists within us, that can become a personal sanctuary and source of strength and wisdom as we meet the challenges that arise in our daily lives.

Bay Marin Aikido is a non-profit school headed by Hans Goto, 7th degree Black Belt with over 40 years experience. Students may attend as many classes as they wish. There are no hard sells, long term memberships, contracts, nor hidden costs. Students also enjoy free access to the dojo library and video collection.
Services
Most people come to martial arts with the goal of gaining the confidence that comes from being able to protect one's self and their loved ones. They may also want to improve their level of fitness and flexibility. With the right amount of commitment and practice, most martial arts can help you achieve these goals.
If you decide to train at the dojo, please bring your vaccination card and show it to Goto Sensei or whoever is instructing. It will be verified and we will update our list for tracking purposes. For now, we will continue with the same times and days- Mondays at 6 pm (dojo), Wednesdays at 8 am (Zoom), Saturdays at 10 am (dojo).

Sensei Goto the best teacher I've studied under who's own teacher was the Great Teacher Morihei Ueshiba and founder of Aikido. The last true martial art's to be created in Japan.
If anyone wants to learn a true real martial art this is the place.
I shall return one day that's if my nine ruptured disc ever get better.
I miss all the old timers there and I know you miss me being thrown around because being an Uke is so fun.

Hans Goto Sensei is internationally well know and highly regarded for his teaching. Classes are ongoing and can take a beginning level student to higher levels of training as well as refining the technique of already skilled practitioners. I would recommend this school to both young and old.

Best place to practice Aikido in Marin. The dojo members are experienced practitioners who welcome beginners to come and practice the art of Aikido . Goto sensei is a wonderful teacher - a marvelous blend of martial and philosophical. This dojo offers children's, adult basic and advanced Aikido classes.

Aikido is quite a difficult martial art to get into. It takes time to reverse what you have done for years and time to build confidence in order to "blend" with an opponent or "uke".

Aikido teaches you to not use strength when dealing with an opponent. Rather, you blend with movements in a circular motion and finish solid, in a square posture.

The true strength (not physical strength), comes from the centre. The harmony that comes when your body is functioning as one unit, instead of flailing arms and legs, provides more ability to remove the uke / opponent from the equation
