At Mojo Dojo Karate in Mill Valley, one of the first things the students learn is the Student Creed. Parents and students come to understand and apply this creed to all parts of their lives, not just in their karate training. Karate training is not just about self-defense, but about character development, building of self-esteem and self-confidence, which all contribute to the joy and happiness we experience in our lives.
Our Little Mojo karate classes will give your child a great start on life. Little Mojo classes are 45 minutes. They are fun, educational, and motivational. Kids love karate and parents love watching their kids learn and grow in a positive, well disciplined and encouraging atmosphere. They begin by learning the rules of the class, developing focus, attention, and respectful behavior.

As an adult, you may be looking for ways to improve your health, physical conditioning, diet, self-confidence, self-esteem, manage stress and/or anger. Parents of my younger students have also found their own desire to begin training. At first it may have been to support their child's interest in karate, but then developed into something they did for themselves as well.
This program is intended to introduce students to martial arts in a convenient after-school setting. There are also classes for returning students to advance through their belts. All of our students have done this, beginning with our K students, who may not be able to read it on their own. Students take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to learn it.

My grandson Samuel has been going to Mojo Dojo for two years. Shihan Henry, and the entire teaching staff are skilled, inviting and gentle in their approach, while expecting discipline and respect for the art and culture. Now that Samuel is near achieving his green belt, he is determinded, and proud of his accomplishments. Shihan Henry has continued the classes during this pandemic with great success. Samuel proudly recites the Studen Creed and as a 7 year old gentle soul he appears to fully understand the meaning and importance. This karate class has been perfect while we have been limited

One of the most consistently awesome sources of joy for me as a parent is watching my two children attend classes here. Their interest was sparked by the allure of becoming a "ninja", and has evolved as they realized the hard work involved. Every tip they earn on their belt is an immense source of pride for them, as well as their parents. Mojo Dojo has an awesome staff - Shihan Henry, Linda, Sempai Adam, and the student teachers are all incredibly engaged and responsive. My kids respect them, but aren't afraid to interact with them. Highly recommended!

I've been practicing karate here for 6 months or so, and I've found the experience wonderful and empowering. Shihan Henry is a skilled, kind, and patient instructor, and makes everyone feel welcome regardless of age or skill level. There are two other instructors who assist, so it's easy to get personalized help and coaching. I highly recommend this dojo for beginners and experts alike!

Given the non-relevant "burrito" review posted, I feel compelled to write one myself. I'm an adult in my fifties who's been a student here for just over two years - originally on the karate side (brown belt), but now taking the morning aikido classes as well. I'm continually impressed at the quality of instruction, the support of my fellow students and the way this is more than a dojo - it feels to me like a family.

I had a private self-defense lesson with Adam Korn at Mojo Dojo and I could not have a better experience. He was detail-oriented and passionate about his work. In one hour, I learned a great deal of techniques that I can use not only in an unfavorable situation, but in my day to day life. I would highly recommend Adam Korn any day.

We love Mojo Dojo Karate.
Our son started there over a year ago and has continued to go twice a week since.
Hanshi James is always there and always helpful. He is kind and considerate while maintaining a culture of respect and discipline. The "student teachers" display the same characteristics as Hanshi James. Linda who handles the books is kind and communicative - even checking in if our son misses a class.
There are get togethers outside of the dojo, there are workshops and intensives, and Hanshi James has always been willing to work a little extra with our son when he asks

My son and I study karate at Mojo Dojo, and we love, love, love being a part of this community of amazing students and families. Hanshi James and Mr. Adam are patient, supportive, rigorous teachers. They are amazing with my son and the other kids because that manage to achieve a rare balance of encouragement and discipline. As a student and teacher myself, I am honored to be on the floor with them, working hard to develop myself inside and out!

Mojo Dojo karate is a Mill Valley gem. I found the Dojo by accident 8 yrs ago when buying a smoothie next door. A crowd had gathered outside the Dojo and I peered in to see a young girl, no more than 9 yrs. testing to move up in rank. Upon proudly earning her next belt, and encouraged by the instructor Hanshi James, she read aloud a letter she had written earlier to herself. It was moving and personal and I could feel the girl surrounded by the caring support of her teachers and peers... Years later and now with two children of my own, I am still moved by that moment. Today, my 7yr. old son and

I'm floored to only see 1 review for mojo dojo. i trained for many years with hanshi james henry back when he was teaching at his family's martial arts school in NJ. i can tell you he is a very serious teacher. his skills are incredible. he's the real thing in a field saturated with people who just aren't as dedicated or knowledgeable. it's been an honor to train with hanshi james. he's instilled martial arts skills that have never left me. i firmly believe that because of the excellent training i got from him, i've never appeared as prey to those who might
