Vicki Hickerson is the owner and senior instructor of Body Springs Studio. During her 14 year engagement as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette, Vicki discovered the many strength, balance and flexibility benefits Pilates has to offer while rehabilitating a dance injury. Following 3 years of private sessions training, Vicki choose Pilates for her second career.
Centering -- The Pilates Method focuses on centering and proper alignment while executing the exercises. The student must work in alignment with a stabilized torso, or "powerhouse" (abdominal muscles, buttocks, inner thighs, and lower back). This also provides the basis for markedly improved balance and posture.
Body Springs Studio is one of the first Classical Pilates studios in Austin. The studio was established in 1999 under the ownership of certified Pilates instructor, Vicki Hickerson. Our certified Power Pilates instructors offer a movement based Pilates workout with modifications to suit special needs, injuries, or post operative rehabilitation.
What is the best way to start my Pilates program? We recommend starting with a private session so that an instructor can assess your personal needs or limitations. Call the studio at 512-452-0115 to register and for more information. What does a private or Duet session consist of?

You will first begin with about 10 to 15 minutes of mat work, then the instructor will teach you specific exercises on the reformer (pilates apparatus that is a flat bed like structure with 4 springs and adjustable gears).Towards the end of your session, the instructor will determine where your particular weaknesses are, and then choose some of the smaller apparatus to suit you needs.

SO glad to be back in private Pilates sessions after my successful hip replacement. Social distancing and sanitation are of utmost importance at this studio and there are virtual classes as well as in person social distancing classes available. Much safer than a gym and great exercise!

Love coming to mat classes! Dolores is wonderful and gives personal attention, even during a group class to make sure you're getting the best out of your session and maximizing your potential. I always feel centered, balanced and relaxed after leaving. Pilates is by far the best thing I've ever done for my body, and was recommended by two physical therapists and a pain specialist for problems with my neck and back.
Classes are affordable, but they also offer package deals for purchasing multiple classes at once.

I began taking lessons at Body Springs about 4 years ago and have continued to find Pilates to be a great way for me to strengthen, tone, burn calories, and challenge myself. Having taken mat classes at other gyms, it was a notable difference to participate in the much smaller, individualized classes here at Body Springs studio. This is a much better format for really learning the proper technique as well as being able to make modifications for any injuries or limitations. It also allows for people of different levels or strengths to take classes together and continue to challenge themselves and

I love Pilates, so when I moved to Austin, I found Body Springs; all the instructors are great, but Vicki has such an extensive knowledge of the body and how to maintain strength, her classes are special. I have never felt as strong as I am now--thank you Body Springs!

I am so grateful to have found Body Springs. After a bad car accident, I spent 8 months recovering and lost all my muscle tone and core strength. My doctor cleared me to begin exercising again, but every time I went to the gym I ended up hurting myself. On the recommendation of my physical therapist, I decided to try private reformer classes. Let me tell you, if you think it's a waste of money or you know what you're doing because you've tried mat classes or DVD's, you are seriously mistaken!
I've been doing both for years, and I was SO doing it wrong all this time.

I have been practicing pilates for 7 years and took a few pilates classes here as well as got my pilates instructor certification from Body Springs. I think this would be a great studio for those new to pilates and perhaps fitness in general. The beginner mat classes have great instructors and the studio is friendly, clean and affordable. Check it out if you have always wanted to try pilates but have been hesitant.

I've been a client here almost 10 years - since Vicki Hickerson taught mat classes at Clear Springs Yoga studio on Far West in '99. A former Rockette, she studied under the famous Romana before training in the Power Pilates method.

All of Vicki's instructors are amazing. They are all truly wonderful people who can also kick your butt on a reformer.

I did pregnancy Pilates until about 7 months here - it made me feel so strong. What an awesome way to keep in shape.
