Services
We were high school sweethearts and married in 2004. We have been Elk River residents since 2005 and love the community. While we both have day jobs, our real passion is for the legacy and community that Chris has built here. Chris Fournie started CFER in April of 2014. January of 2020, we started the journey of taking over the gym when Chris retired.
With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in an accepting and encouraging environment. CrossFit is a training program that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied high intensity challenging workouts.
Functional strength training aims to simulate the resistance needed to build and condition muscles for everyday life. It's a type of functional fitness that anyone can utilize to avoid injury during their daily routines or on the sporting field. Functional exercises are designed to reduce the chance of injury by building your body up to better withstand the stressors of daily life.
We have a passion for Olympic weightlifting and wanted to offer a class for our athletes where we could dedicate an entire hour to the mechanics of the lifts from start to finish. We have a number of athletes who enjoy competing locally and knew that learning proper technique, increasing strength, and building confidence in lifts would improve their overall performance.
For those experienced CrossFitters, or those that feel they want to add more volume to their workouts, we offer additional programming geared toward CrossFit competitions. More emphasis is put on precise execution of movements in order to meet competition guidelines. You will also be guided through the extensive preparation for the required stamina necessary to have success at a CrossFit Competition.

My boyfriend and I had an AMAZING time. We did the functional strength training session, and Jerome was a fabulous trainer. This was my first time back into a gym since COVID, and I love that they allow you to modify any movements to what works best for you, and it’s self paced. Very sanitized and clean, and that can be hard to come by for many gyms! 10/10

I love this gym! Since the first day I started, it felt like home. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The coaches are the best, and so knowledgeable. The classes offered are all customizable to your level, no need to feel intimidated. If you are looking for a gym to belong to, this is it!

Never been to a better gym. The crossfit program as a whole is a really engaging and, most importantly effective system. I loved the trainers here even if i felt like i got on their nerves with all the questions, but they were always patient and willing to help. Sadly not able to go year round, but the summer special gave me a great way to stay active. Would definetely reccomend

Dropped in here for a couple days while I was visiting family for Thanksgiving. The coaches and athletes were very welcoming and friendly. I feel very lucky to have had this atmosphere and opportunity (CrossFit classes and open gym) while taveling to continue to do what I enjoy. When I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely be back!

I am so thankful that I was introduced to this community. It has given me a place to be an athlete now that my college career has come to an end. The equipment is well taken care of and in good shape. They are continuously adding more equipment to better serve their members. The Coaches are amazing! Doesn’t matter what level you are at there is a place for you at CrossFit Elk River. Members and Coaches are very friendly and encouraging and it’s truly like a big CrossFit family. We have fun while pushing to get better and to be our best each day.

I have been at Crossfit Elk River for about a year and a half. I was very nervous about joining in the beginning so I started in one of the boot camp sessions and joined as a member after that. It has been one of the best decisions I have made. The workouts keep me motivated and can be scaled for anyone at any level. I never get bored with the workouts, everyday is something different which I like. Chris and all the coaches go above and beyond with motivation, nutrition and technique to make sure you are being safe. I have been very happy with the changes I am seeing with myself, body and mind

Chris is an awesome coach. He is really good about making sure proper technique is emphasized. Quality over quantity. As a beginner having not worked out in quite some time, CrossFit intimidated me. I thought "there is no way I can do that." I was wrong. Everything can be scaled to your ability, and you progress at your own pace. If you are a high level athlete, you will be challenged. If you are a beginner, you will be challenged.
I have a Crossfit Box closer to me, but I chose this one because of the friendly supportive members and the coach.
