Three generations of the Delaney family have proudly served families in the Town of Walpole since our opening in 1958, and we are still family owned and operated today. Over the years, our commitment has been to provide you, your friends and neighbors with sound advice and personal service at times that can be emotionally difficult.
Many families first meet us when they attend a loved one's funeral. Later, they call us when they are in a time of personal need. While losing someone that we love and care for is always difficult, we strive to celebrate the life lived to bring families some comfort and peace during difficult times.

Services
The James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home was established in December of 1958 at the corner of Common and School Street, one block from Walpole Center. The property at 48 Common Street originally served as a private residence, after John Henry Harshorn, a builder by trade, moved the existing house from the corner in 1898 and placed it on a foundation to the left of Memorial Pond on School Street, to build a home for his wife and himself.
Our lives are made up of moments that become memories. Our family and friends inspire us to live everyday to the fullest. When the time comes to remember our loved ones, we have a duty to honor and celebrate their life, remembering all of the wonderful moments and people that made their life meaningful.
Take Exit number 26 the sign will read Rte. 20 Waltham/ Weston. Follow Route 20 East into Waltham. This road will eventually become Main Street. The funeral home is located almost exactly 3 miles from the 128/95 exit on your left, one mile past the center of Waltham. The funeral home is located in a residential area, just beyond a green bridge beside a Sunoco gas station.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. Jim was the son of the late Timothy E. and Katherine A. (Sullivan) Delaney and was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts with his seven brothers and sisters.
Memories are the treasures that our families and friends are left with when we pass away. How will your memories be shared? Will you be the final author? When we pre-plan our funeral services, we are able to choose exactly how we want to be remembered. We can be at peace in knowing that the final details are taken care of and our family and friends can begin healing instead of worrying about making arrangements.

During a time that our family was in shock at the unexpected loss of my Father the staff at Delaney's (Jay, Jim and Kathy) showed great empathy and helped to walk us through the process of what was needed to celebrate my Father. I couldn't speak more highly about how they helped us handle the arrangements from the VA needs, to the Priest, to the gentlemen who helped line up the cars for the procession, to arranging for the police detail to the cemetery. All were great and what Kathy did with the pictures, video and setting the room was truly amazing. This took a great deal of stress off of my family

My husband passed away unexpectedly. Jim Delaney and the staff at James H. Delaney Funeral Home did a wonderful job from the moment I called them throughout the entire painful process. They went above and beyond answering the families needs and questions, reproducing treasured family pictures to display during the services and making sure that we had nothing to worry about despite the foot of snow that fell on the day of the wake. Everything was taken care of exactly the way the family wanted. Thank you for everything you did for our family.

I have to give them a 1 because my husband died and his sister who is not next if kin told Jim we were divorced. In his death certificate it says he was divorced which is not true. I showed Jim my marriage certificate and he told me to go to city hall to corrections and they will fix it. No I'm sorry, I never felt so disrespected

We had my Dad cremated and my Mom had a traditional funeral 4 months apart, both at Delaney & Son Funeral Home this year and my siblings and I could not be more please with the professionalism and efficiency we experienced in both instances. We were effortlessly guided through both processes with ease which took much pressure off us during these emotional times.
I will recommend James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home to any locals I know looking for recommendations.

We decided to celebrate my mom's life, and the Delaney Funeral Home did just that. Our family can't thank you enough for all that you did to truly make our good-bye a beautiful one. The detail you pay attention to is remarkable. You are very talented and gifted at what you do. At such a difficult time, you were truly a blessing to us all. With heartfelt thanks from our whole family.
Blessings,
Julie

They were supportive and helpful. They made a difficult time run smoothly and this was during a blizzard. The way they took our pictures and presented them was wonderful. I can not thank them enough for helping us in an unexpected death and a blizzard. The video and picture presentation was so memorable and beautiful. I highly recommend them.

At such an emotional, fragile time it was comforting to work with Jim and associates at Delaney Funeral Home. Honestly they went above and beyond. They are the most compassionate, understanding, detailed, hardworking group of people that I've ever encountered in this industry.
Four hundred people attending the Celebration of Life services and at least 300 of them couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was and how personal it was. It was a great send off for my Dad. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend this funeral home to other people. We have been using Delaney

Such a beautiful personal touch they added for my Morhers Services! You can tell they take them time to really get to know the deceased, and put together an amazingly special and beautiful personal service that is completely reflective of the person and the life they led. Very heart warming for my family. Thank you for all that you did! They even followed up with a special Tree 🌲 Planting memorabilia in my Mothers name.
