Here are my thoughts about Union. I will list pros and cons so you can make an informed decision that is right for you.
Cons: The biggest turn off would be the rent. About $1,000 per person for a 4b4b. Few utilities are covered in rent so also consider that. There are fees for small things (ex: $5 parcel service, $50 getting your keys to move in, $7 convenience fee if you pay your rent with a card). $350 application fee (I don’t think you get any of that back? Idk) I mean the fees do add up. It is expensive to live here. The walls are kind of thin if you live in a 4b4b TH fyi but it isn’t

In my four years living at chapel hill, I've stayed in multiple apartment complexes, but by far, UNION IS THE WORST. Do not be tricked by the fake reviews and fake luxury that Union displays. Not only were the walls thin and you can literally hear everything from different rooms, but the outside lights made it almost impossible for me to sleep because they were so bright. I'm shocked by the positive reviews. From an outside perspective, the complex might seem nice, but in fact, it is not. Everything here is cheaply made, from the dishwasher to the washing machine. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

I lived here last year and didn’t enjoy it. The walls were VERY thin, I heard the people above me talking, moving around, blasting music at all times of the day, often at 3am on weeknights too. People also fly through that parking lot with no regard for pedestrians; the general population of people who live here aren’t the kind you wanna hang around. Glad I live somewhere quieter now.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE TO LIVE. The staff is unfriendly, the cost is high for the living space, and they charge for everything. I was disappointed when I moved in and had to pay a fee to activate the key fob. Ridiculous. If you are a UNC student looking to live close to campus, live ANYWHERE but here. It is not worth the price. One of my biggest mistakes was choosing to live in this terrible apartment. Do not make the same mistake.

While the staff is friendly and the amenities are nice, management needs some work. You must pay fees to sublease which we did this past spring. Before this semester we had to empty out our apartment entirely (including dishes, cabinet items and the removal of curtains and hardware) so they could clean and inspect. They patched and painted (so we will have to rehang brackets) but they did not clean. Upon moving back in, we noticed that the floors were filthy. There is a coating of sticky dust/paint covering the blinds and all horizontal and vertical surfaces. After inquiry they sent a cleaning

Very disappointed! My son applied for a 4 bedroom unit and completed the application with his roomate's names. We paid $350 ($150 application fee and $200 deposit). The next day he was told that there was not a unit with 4 bedrooms that all four on application could live together. He would be put with others in a 4 bedroom unit. He said he would not be staying. He was told that he would be refunded the $200, but not the application fee. (NEXT DAY cancelled- after they said they did not have what he applied for online) After calling numerous times to speak with management, I finally got to speak

Don’t believe any of the good reviews as the union participates in a reward system for the residents exchanging a 5 star review for gift cards. This apartment complex is just terrible. Firstly, it’s terribly built with the wall paint peeling and everything breaking. In the year I’ve lived here our dishwasher has broken 3 times, our washer 2 times, our sink 1 time and on top of this my roommates and I have all had individual issues with our rooms. This however is not even the worst part. The worst part of living here is how incredibly invasive the maintenance system is run. The union has a

I like to hangout at Union with my friends. their amenities are really nice and their staff is amazing. Emily always helps my friends get me parking passes and she is so great to talk to. Definitely our favorite person to see in the office, but the other staff is great as well!! Definitely look into Union!!

My sister lives at Union and I love visiting her there! The community so just so nice and clean. We like hanging out in the rooftop terrace because it is so beautiful. Emily helped us with move in and she was just the nicest ever! I definitely appreciated how friendly the staff was during such a stressful time.

I love living at Union Chapel Hill! The furniture and appliances that come with my apartment make it well worth the rent. The maintenance and office staff are always super helpful and kind to me with whatever I need. The office staff person I see the most is Morgan and she always has a smile on her face and is ready to help! The amenities are well kept and there are always resident events and giveaways that are super cool! I love living here and am so glad I renewed my lease!!
